How did you manage to get the truck and trailer out of the sand? They look pretty buried.
Both the spare tire for the truck and on the tongue of the trailer were laying on the surface!
Luckily, I only broke through the 'crust' while in 2WD, fully aired up. Without anyone around, I started looking for a good boulder to grab with the winch, but none were close enough. So, I went about airing down all four tires REALLY low, with the plan to go into 4-LO, Lock em all up, and just try to churn out a little at a time with my fingers and toes crossed.
Just halfway into airing down the first tire, a good Ol Dodge feller in a 1st Gen Diesel 1 ton 4x4 (also with a winch) rolled up and offered to serve as an anchor point for the winch. Doing so, under light power, with the winch doing 90% of the work, it walked right out!!!
I was in my lawn chair at the fire pit less than 15 minutes later. That one use of the Winch alone, paid for itself 1000 times over. I would likely still be there digging.
Much Love for Winches and Old Time 'Wheelers willing to lend a hand.
I "put one back" into the Karma bank not 18 Hrs later, when I helped a family of fishermen just down the shore, who had, in similar fashion pulled up and watched their "Cross Over" AWD rig sink right down to the pan. They were really pleased. I told them "Just keep paying it forward!"
