I was under the impression that if you just installed the 5100's and set it at 2.1 that the truck would level out. Well I called anything auto and the salesmAns said that I needed strut spacers ie leveling kit ($100). Is he right ? Thanks !

He either misunderstood the question or doesn't know jack about them. The Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks 24-187367 should level your truck. Depends on your specific suspension.

I have mine set at 1.4" and I have 3/4" rake but it's hardly noticeable. If I set them at 2.1" then it should be just about 100% level. When I set mine up the rake was so slight that I left it like that. I've read others setting them at 2.1" and still others at 2.8" to get them perfectly level. An still others at 2.8" with a 1" spacer in the rear. So the best way to decide would be to measure your fender height front & rear when the truck is on level ground and go from there.

+1 on the reply. My 2012 1500 is set at 2.8 with a daystar 1 inch rear poly spacer. This setup gives me approx 3/4 rake, which is barely noticeable. Measuring your fender heights is key!

Setting Bilsteins at 2.8 should be about level. Setting them at 2.1 will give you a slight, barely noticeable rake. I have mine set at 2.1 The rake is there, but it's close to level, I like the look.
