Hi there, first forum post. I bought a few weeks ago a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 single cabin, Hemi 5.7.
So far I'm happy with the truck but the other day I parked it at the gym and when I return, I turned it on and tried to move the shift lever from P to D and it was impossible to get it out of P. After whatching a lot of Youtube videos I tried everything and the only thing that make it work normally again was to unplug a red connector that's under the steering wheel (I'll leave an image below for better understanding).
No error light came up on the dashboard and the truck is working fine, so I'm wandering: what's the purpose of that connector?

Thanks in advance.

Probably for the brake interlock.

Thanks for the quick answer. Is it dangerous to drive without that connector plug in? Can it hurt myself or the truck?
