Rpm surges at highway speeds and loses acceleration around 60-75 mph, engine light blinks, cylinder 1 misfire.

Have a 2010 Ram Quad Cab 4x4 with a 5.7 hemi. 6” Rough Country suspension lift and those hideous 20” plastic rims on 33” tires.

The problem ive been having for the last couple years is the rpm surging at highway speeds around 60-75mph (especially going up a hill) and accelerating drops and the engine light blinking. Sometimes it does it even with heavy acceleration in OD. The code read for a cylinder 1 misfire. Changed out for new coil packs and still have the misfire. However the problem can be averted by taking it out of OD and driving it in 5th gear with no heavy acceleration which is what ive been doing and babying it pretty much. But this doesnt do well when you need a good amount of acceleration to get on a busy highway. Transmission seems to shift great too. I was told it might be some stuck lifters.

Did you inspect the plugs? If you only swapped or replaced coil packs the plug or plugs could be the cause.

From your description it could be a number of things, bad plug, injector, MAF, fuel pump, TB and yes a failing lifter. What was the actual code that you pulled? Were there multiple codes? Mileage on the engine? Previous major repairs? Please keep in mind when the check engine light blinks it’s bad, stop driving it when that happens.
