1997 Ram 3500 Cummins 5 speed NV4500 4x4 transmission.
My speedometer normally doesn't work lately. however, I've noticed now that it's getting colder, it will read about correct IE 2000 RPM in 5th gear is typically 68 miles an hour and it'll bounce between 60 and 75. There are weeks where it just doesn't work at all. My tach is completely accurate and using cruise control matches the erratic speed, throwing me around in the cab. My first thought is the speed sensor in the transmission. Should I try anything else first?
Thanks!
