I read a lot about people wanting to get from 3.73 gears to 4.10 in their gas HD Ram. Or even 4.10 to 4.56. I have even read that they think 4.30 would be ideal.

Tires are something many change from stock within a few hundred miles. Why not keep some dough in your pocket and toss on some 31" tires instead of the factory 33" on the newer rams?

Just plugging in a simple calculator from 4lo.com 3.73 gears with 31" would yield a 3.97 effective ratio. 4.10 goes to 4.36.

Because no one wants smaller tires on their truck :naughty: Smaller tires = less clearance clarence, and ruin the looks (unless maybe if it's lowered).

I believe early HD's with 17 inch rims and gas motors were smaller, but the trucks also sat lower than the 13+ ones due to suspension differences. And other than 17" rim gas trucks, the rest had approximately 33" equivalents I believe.

DIESEL here, but my OEM 18" tires had the equivalent of 33" tires.

Went with 285/65R20 which is 34.5" if im not mistaken. No problem for my Cummins. But I doubt that small of a change would be felt much by a gasser
