Get your self a snatchum strap. The chains have no give. The straps have a degree of give enabling the tow vehicle to get a running start. The elasticity multiplies the pulling strength.View attachment 215672 New member. First post. 2016 1500 big horn. Where do you stow your tow chain?
Man almighty, I had to do a double take on that coulda swore it said "and a bottle of jack"i used a tow strap and it is under the pass seat with the factory jack and a bottle jack.
Yep, that's how it rolls here sometimes... I store my towing/recovery gear in my Ramboxes.Wow! The OP simply asked about a good place to store his tow chain and you guys turned it into a ******* match.
As mentioned using chain or even load straps are not the greatest for pulling someone out when stuck and can be a "flight" hazard.
I keep a 30' recovery strap under the back seat. Recovery straps(or ropes) actually stretch by design to help in the recovery of the stick vehicle. You buy a recovery strap rated for 2-3 times the weight of the vehicle being recovered, I've pulled a 1 ton Ford Powerstroke out of the mud with mine(18000 lbs rated). Also have a clevis pin adapter for the 2" receiver as a strap can fly off a trailer ball.
I have a tow strap stored under the rear seat. I would avoid chains, if they break the results can be deadly!View attachment 215672 New member. First post. 2016 1500 big horn. Where do you stow your tow chain?
Me too - safest and most efficient way to goThirty foot tow strap rolled up and under the rear seat on the passenger side. Draw bar with "D" ring always used with receiver hitch
