Hey guys,

I have a 2104 RAM Laramie 5.7L with a 3.92 differential and I tow my 2023 Airstream Caravel 22FB rated at 4500 lbs. with no trouble at all. I don't even have to place it in tow mode, and it pulls effortlessly. I next want to buy a 2023 Airstream Flying Cloud 25FB rated at 5600 lbs and I was wondering if I could keep my 1500 and not have to move up to a 2500.

Should be fine up to about 8000lbs but I would definitely be using tow/haul. Anything over about 1500lbs and I use it. Your trans will thank you later.

You will be good with the 1500. You might want to buy a weight distribution hitch. Once you tow with one you will never go back. So much safer and control over sway. I just happen to have a brand new Weighsafe True Tow if your interested.

As the others mentioned, your transmission will be happier and last longer if you put it in tow mode. If you aren't currently running one, it's a good idea to move to a WDH setup, either with a stand-alone sway control (my preference) or the combo units. You may not need it, but it just makes a pull so much more comfortable when your nose isn't pointed at the sky.

All that said, depending on your truck's options you should be good up to around 8k in the Laramie trim, so I don't think you'd need to step up to a 2500.
