Hi,
Thanks for the add.
I have a 1998 Ram 2500, 4X4, long bed, Crew Cab with a Cummins 5.9, 4 speed Automatic Transmission and Spicer 70 rear axle.

I, of course have questions;

1) How can I identify the trans?
The sticker under the hood is unreadable on the left side. I think I can make out an 8 or a B at the very end of the trans part. I can see the 4-speed A fine.

2) What is the Output shaft speed sensor threaded into?
I pulled the code that said it was bad so I replaced it this morning and when I pulled it out, about a quart of what appeared to be very old and very nasty transmission fluid came out. I had the fluid & filter changed about 3 or 4 years ago and about 3000 to 5000 miles ago. Yeah, I don't drive it much.
A) Is this a separate compartment from the main transmission?
B) Or is my fluid really that nasty already?

Now for the good stuff;
1) How can I make this baby a 1-ton?

Thank you or your time

You have a 47RE

Should be threaded into the transfer case and yes it has its own fluid (ATF+4) that has to be changed seperate from the transmission.

Legally can't
