As the title says, I have a 2003 2500 5.7L with a blown motor. (Rod I think... it knocks pretty bad). I have a guy who has an engine/transmission for $900. Its a 5.7L Hemi Magnum out of a 2008 1500.

Is there anything I should be concerned about before pulling the trigger on this deal?

Thanks Guys!

It's a bolt in, what you need to decide is whether you're going to pull the heads and replace the MDS lifters with non-MDS lifters and pull the solenoids or not. You don't have to, you just need to decide if you want to. You can leave the solenoids and lifters in and it will work just fine (MDS default position is off; with no harness or computer telling them to activate they don't do anything). What you absolutely will need to do is plug the EGR ports on both the head and intake manifold (unless you use your 2003 manifold). Same transmission, since it's an RFE it's always good to have a backup/spare lol. There will most likely be some harness plug differences on sensors, etc between the 03 and 08. Use the 03 sensors for full compatibility.
