New member here from Ohio. Just got a beautiful 2007 Quad Cab 2500 with Hemi. Of course I plan to use it in the snow, that's one of the reasons I got it. For those that drive in salted road northern climates, what do you do to keep the body panels and undercarriage relatively rust free?

You can get an anti-rust coating sprayed onto the undercarriage if you're worried about it. I've painted most of my undercarriage and just sprayed the crap off every week when I'm home.

I make sure and clean it off as soon as possible. Especially the inside of the rear wheel wells. Wax it 4-5 times a year and use plenty of soap because the sand and grit in the road salt can scratch so easily.
The rear bumper is also a spot where it tends to accumulate.

Not sure exactly where you are in Ohio, but I think there are a couple of Krown places there.

I've used Krown on all my vehicles in the last few years, and am extremely happy with the results.

Adding rear wheel well liners would keep 99% of the crap from getting up in the fenders, causing rust. I got mine thru Jegs and the are genuine Mopar, also much cheaper.

The damage is done on my truck. My spring project is the bed and underside clean up/restoration/detailing. That being said, drive my truck every day, all year, all seasons.
This winter really beat the crap out of it. So much salt on the roads. I would thoroughly rinse out the insides of the quarter panels, rockers, and underside of the truck every few days. It sucked but I wanted to try and keep whatever corrosion that is already present from getting worse until I can do remediation when the weather breaks.

I was in Montana for years, the most important thing is waxing during the summer months and knock those damn slush buildups off your wells because that salt will eat right to the metal.

I live in Alaska, so, yeah, I drive it in winter.

undercoating and GOOD mud-flaps.

be careful pressure-washing the underside as you can wash off undercoating if you get too aggressive.

also make sure your drains don't become clogged

Fluid Film is a great choice for DIY under-coating. You can easily find it on Ebay in aerosol cans or gallon containers intended for multiple vehicles using an air sprayer. I used about 6 cans and it only needs to be touched up yearly. I highly recommend the 360 deg extension wand to use with the aerosol cans on the rocker panels and wheel wells.

Got my truck 2.5 years ago.

It's seen 2 winters.

When I first got it, it was in perfect condition. I will have to take some pictures to show ya.... it is rather unreal what 2 winters have done to this truck. It's sad really.

I didn't take care of it like I should have. Now I'll have to pay the price. So far it's nothing that a new truck bed won't fix. Hasn't effected the cab yet.

It would behoove you to really research this topic and take appropriate measures to combat the rust factor.
