Yes -- if there's no wind, I've averaged 22.5 -- with cruise set on 82 -- on a 200-mi trip. Mine is 2wd, and 3:21s. I'm very pleased with the MPGs.

Being that yours is 2 Wheel drive, that plays a big role in that. My higher-geared 3.92 truck is 4WD and I’m tickled pink that I can see 18’s in mine.

Back when I had my 2008, I know a girl that had practically the same truck as I had but hers I believe was the SLT model; mine was the Laramie. Hers had 20 inch wheels, just as mine did, but hers was a 2WD- mine was four-wheel-drive. As far as whether or not she had the same 3.92’s as I had, I can’t answer yea or neigh in that one but she claimed she was getting mid 17’s out of hers whereas with mine, I was lucky to see even high 15’s, low 16’s.

Moral of the story, due to that 4WD front axle’s design, it makes quite a bit of drag.

While there are times I wish I had 3.92s, the 3.21 and 32-gallon combo give me 600+ miles (all interstate)...if I can hold the bathroom breaks that long.

That’s not bad. The last time I was on a long trip, I saw as high as 480 on my DTE readout. If I actually got that, I have no idea because I never hand-calculated it. lol.

Thank you for proving my point.

Your point being that a triggering Ram Owner, who does not know what Triggering is, because the little Whiners who complained about Triggering Ram Owners, sure as hell would never do it to this Triggering Ram Owner? That the Point you trying to prove?

Always figured it was due to a strong Survival Instinct in those who may have been unintentionally Triggered.

If we had purchased or ordered a new RAM, we would have looked for one with the 32/33 gal tank and 3.92 gears. Instead, we got a very good deal on a used one that had everything we wanted except those two items. Since we will not be towing anything very heavy nor towing very often, the 3.21 axle and 26 gal tank will still serve us well.

FWIW I can't tell much of a difference between my CCSB with 3.92s and my dad's CCLB with 3.21s. My truck holds speed better on the interstate due to the hills around here and I prefer 3.92 just because of the hills.

What I don't understand is why we have to make this decision. The whole point of a transmission is that it gives you a range of gears so you have the gears you need down low as well as the cruising gears you want for the highway.

And these days we have 8 to 10 gears! It wasn't that long ago that you had only 4 or 5! Why the hell can't they spread those 8-10 gears out over a wide enough range to make everyone happy? It makes no sense.

I got the 3.55 in my 2019 Classic CC with the PS 3.6. Its the sweet spot, the best of both worlds.

Personally I think FCA made a mistake dropping the 3.55's behind the Hemi and 8sp combo. That's what I put in mine, and they are a really good alternative to either the 3.21's or 3.92's. Why they dropped the 3.55's with the Hemi/8 speed combo after the first run of 8 speed trucks in late 2013,makes me kind of wonder about FCA's bean counters doing all the thinking, instead of letting the engineers do more thinking, lol

When I had my stock tires my truck never hunted for the right gear, never had that issue

Now I have some heavy ass 35s I dont use 8th much anymore..lol

But I am happy with hiw it moves out.

It also pulls this 7k trailer with ease. If I needed to pull 10k I would have bought a 2500 anyway.

I also would have went with 3:92s knowing I was planning on doing 35s but the trucks on the lots that I wanted all had 3:21s and I did not want to order one and wait.

If I want to go fast I will do it in something lighter..lol ..like my Nova.

Nice Nova, but one thing I've found is a "quick" truck garners more attention at most tracks then a "fast " car does.I used to run a high 10 sec 68Z and it never got anywhere near the same attention as my low 12 sec 4X4 does. I've been running my truck for 5 years now,and i'm still amazed at the amount of attention it gets at any track I take it to. Everbody and their dog can relate to a 12 sec truck, not very many can relate to a high 9 sec car.
