Wrecked my 2012

So I was taking daughter to softball practice and at a intersection that I had a green light a homeless guy ran across the street in front of me, I was doing around 30mph. He was up and walking around but had a bad cut on his ass check and other cuts on his arms and back. Cops came and I had a witness that said it was that guys fault. So off to the body shop.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see your location as Garland. I didnt see that from my phone when I replied. I live in Baytown and my daughter said she saw a guy (appeared to be homeless) laid out in the street after he got hit by a car on the same day.

Kinetic energy is an interesting beast. If the guy weighed 150 Lbs moving at 30 MPH that is around 4500 Ft/lb energy. Your truck at 5300 Lbs moving 30 MPH deliver 159,000 Ft/Lbs of energy. These numbers assume inelastic collisions with an immoveable object. Yours was an elastic collision with moveable objects so the formula's get a bit more complicated. But you get the idea of the energy involved so the damage is not unexpected.

lol. Yeah he is. Wasn't him...lol. My step-father has a 2017 1500 Laramie Longhorn and hit a guy on a bicycle a few weeks ago. Early morning pulled out of his driveway and about 1/4 mile down the road the sun was blinding him and he hit the guy. A little over $4000 damage and it didn't look that bad. He has the chrome OEM tow mirrors and the passenger mirror was broke. Front fender dented, headlight cracked antenna slightly bent. So from the pics I saw and my estimation the following parts needed replaced: pass. fender, pass headlight, pass chrome OEM tow mirror, maybe pass fender molding. It was popped off and bowed out but not sure if it cracked or the push pins broke. His pass side window was scratched from the mirror hitting it so not sure if they replaced it or not. I think that's all that needed replaced.

Guy he hit had a few broken ribs and bruised lung. I think that's all he had

Think about hitting a 175 pound deer. I hate when that happens. I would hate it worse to hit a human.
The population of wild people has steadily increased since they closed the state insane asylums. Glad everyone is more or less OK.

This is one of those times having full coverage and a very low deductible pays off. Common sense says that man could never pay for it.

Certainly glad everyone is OK. Better hold on to the witness in case the homeless man decides to sue and say the whole thing was your fault.
