OK, here in good Ole West by God Virginia it is County fair season. And a lot of guys at work at the fire department are wanting me to enter my stock truck in the gas class. They put their diesels in the stock diesel class. One of the guys almost won one yesterday. He missed it by just under a foot. He was running nitto mud tires. My thing is I'm running nitto Terra grapplers and the only mod on my engine is the true duals exhaust. In the stock gas class most guys are running the Ford 6.2, Chevy 6.0 or dodge 5.7. But they all have programmers. And I don't. What's y'all take, wait till next year when I can have a CAI, and programmer. And some mud tires?????

I'd say give it a shot. That way you know where your truck stands compared to the ones with bolt ons. And next year you will be able to whoop some tail. When you get yours done up

You should go for it. Check to see if your friends are pulling in low or high and if they are locking it into a certain gear. I saw a guy with a v6 do better than v8s a few years ago. He wasnt fast, but his gearing just seemed perfect for the sled. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Any of y'all have some warnings to be careful of. They talk about the things they have to watch for in the diesels.

One guy has a 2010 2500 4x4 Cummins and he has a bigger turbo, different head bolts, exhaust, programmer, bigger injectors and bigger intercooler. And is still in the stock class.

Nice thing about 3/4 tons.. "Solid axles" !! just lock it in 4 low and 2nd gear.. make sure u lock it in 4 low before u hook to the sled.. just to make sure it engages. Having tires that hook isn't always a good thing, i had a chevy silverado 1500, 5.3, "ifs", one of the front tires hooked, snapped the half shaft.. it then transferred all that torque " 5,300 rpm" to the other tire and ripped the front differential in 3 different places. Needles to say i am solid axle and ram from here on out.

That's what I'm worried about. Lol. I definitely don't want something like that. This is my daily driver. And I doubt the warranty will cover a breakage from it. Lol.

Yeah you should be fine. Just try to avoid hopping around if at all possible. And let out of the gas if it starts hopping to much

Have you ever watched White Men Can't Jump. Reason I ask is because they have a really great part on there where Gloria tells Billy "Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and sometimes when you lose, you really win, and sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs."

There is just not much to be gained.

it's a 3/4 ton with solid axles.. you wont hurt it. And as long as it is stock.. warranty is warranty.. they will fix it. Doesn't matter what you were doing, if it is stock.. they cant say no, i know in the ford raptor owners manual it says " clear as day if u break it jumping it they will fix it" with in reason.. something about only being able to blow out 2 rear bump stops then they make you buy the hydrolic bump stops.

If they can prove you were abusing it they can deny a warranty claim, which would be at Chrysler's discretion.

if they service writer thinks you look funny he could deny it... they generally dont ask too many questions. i was crawling around under my 2500 6.4 the other day.. and i was pretty well amazed at how " Beefy" and big everything was.. especially in comparison to my 1500. it should be fine pulling a sled.

Yeah ok, if you chew up your gears or blow your transfer case, it doesn't take a rocket scientist.

I pulled a triple axle trailer that weighed between 26,000 lbs & 28,000 lbs already. I know it will pull it. I just worry about things like wheel hop, wheel binding. Those are some of the things the guys at work told me about that they watch for when they pull their diesel trucks. When I hooked to the trailer at work and pulled it, they all was amazed. Because it was a big load even on their trucks. They had to pay up when I pulled it and even went off the mountain where the base is and back up. It's about 8% grade too but only about a mile long.

they are built to pull.. and 15 seconds of max performance under a load shouldn't break anything. we have a 10 mile 7% grade here " 5k elevation ending in 8k elevation. That section of hwy is harder on my vehicle then pulling a sled any day of the week. Remember you are in dirt, you shouldnt get wheel hop.. at least not till the end.. your biggest concern.. it's your daily driver... therefore..if you break something.. are you willing to take that butt chewing you are gonna get from your wife? My money is on the 2500 6.4 in the gas catagory.. I think it would take any of the other full size gassers.
