I'm nervous about cutting my bumper...but man I really want to get these in. Any advice or anyone else who has done this? I know I've seen pictures.

I marked the openings, measured again. Stood back and looked, measured again using completely different reference points. Stood back and looked again and then remeasured for good luck It WAS nerve wracking putting the first cut into the bumper. One hint: DON'T use a level to mark the bumper unless your are sure your truck bumper is mounted perfectly level, your truck sits perfectly level, and your truck is sitting on perfectly level ground (mine wasn't). I used a square from the top edge of the bumper to take my vertical measurements.

GREAT advice for a variety of DIY, not just this project. Reference for measurements needs to be in the same "system" as the end point. I know I've screwed that up more than once myself.

Been there myself. More than once. Hopefully current mistakes leads to future wisdom.

well. I decided to stop at just 2 LED lights for now. It WAS scary cutting :superhack: ...and I measured a few times. Still...they aren't perfect but pretty close. It's really hard to measure the same on both sides without good reference points which there really aren't on the bumper. Let me know what you guys think?

now I have to wire them up! Hmmm....and of course the wiring kit that came with them isn't long enough to go from the back all the way to the front engine bay...and then into the cab. I'll have to go get some wire I guess

man...I'm starting to feel like the look is unbalanced. You guys think I need to add the 2nd pair of lights where I was going to put them??? opposite side of the tail pipes. I'm starting to think I have to. ugh.

I think the two look good. However, I would have put the two closer to the corners. Probably right above the tail pipes. It doesn't look bad at all where the first who sit but I would probably add your extra where your original plan was to put them.

I like them tucked in even a little more than mine I think.

What does your light output look like now? Pics?

Do you have a reverse camera? Do you think if you added two more lights that it will wash it out?

no problem with my camera. It's actually a little more clear because it doesn't have to go so far into the low-light exposure.

It's kinda a crappy picture and doesn't really show the true difference, I should have parked farther away from the house to really illustrate the difference. The Rigid's are a little brighter, but they spread a LOT more light. I would say the area I have illuminated is 3-4 times deeper and twice as wide as stock.

Im going to resurrect this a year later. How are the lights doing? I had a bunch of the nilight ones on my Wrangler but I am going to order the flush mount ones for the rear bumper.
