Does anyone know what the accessory purpose of this area is supposed to be?

I haven't seen any pictures of this area used by an accessory. Anyone know?

They went to a seat weight switch to automatically turn off/on the airbag.

Other than the lower half being the plug for the inverter option, I think that right side cubby space is open on all models.

On my 2017 Laramie, the lower area is the inverter plug in and the top area is an open cubby.

Thanks all! It has a rather thick rubber piece in the bottom of it. When you pry it up theres nothing under it. The mystery space. Only the designer knows for sure...

Has anybody found a use for it? besides dust catcher... LOL

Upon further research I found this:

Looks like it was originally the 115v outlet.

Then the outlet was moved in 14 and it went back to being a cubby.

I have the inverter in mine, so it's covered, but in the empty left side, I find it's s good size to store a spare 12v to USB plug.

it is "supposed" to be a storage compartment. They found dead space and made a pocket, so its for anything that you want it for that fits in it.

I store an access badge in there that I need to get in and out of a parking garage at work.

Well, I use mine for holding my badge for work I have to wear. It's nice to have additional cubby's!

I have a set of small keys for my swing box, hitch lock and trailer that I keep in there.
