You are in good shape if you’re already in D1. That is a huge milestone in the process. Should be built in around 2 weeks.

I was just looking at the freight rail maps for around Kentucky. The map is old, so the Newburg location may be Invalid.
It looks like the CSX R.R. unloads vehicles in Nashville & in a town called Newburg, it is just south of Louisville.

So it looks like your Ram will go from the Saltillo Mexico Assembly Plant up to Eagle Pass Texas,
Then into the Dallas/Ft. Worth area & then North up to St. Louis, At that point, the freight car that contains your Ram will transfer from the Union Pacific RR to the CXS RR locomotives, then to either Nashville or Newburg.
It will then be unloaded & parked, until a truck is scheduled to haul it to your dealership

I don’t want to rain on your parade with my experience so far but don’t set your expectations to high. Mine finally is loaded on a delivery truck from rail yard headed to dealer next week. Tuesday will be 19 weeks since ordered

D1 means that all the parts to build it are in Inventory
It also means that a date & time has been set to begin building your Ram.

Once that date arrives, it will take about 16 hours to build it

Then it is scheduled to go to the Body Vendor for a few days for things like bed liner, hitch receiver, side steps, etc.

Then it will go back to the assembly line property to get signed off & scheduling for shipment

Your Ram is going to be built down in Saltillo Mexico

Normally from the time that you placed the order, until you take delivery, when it is a Mexico build, is about 12 weeks, but if you live in some place like Nova Scotia or Vancouver, it will take longer than that

The shortest destination would be Dallas/ Ft. Worth

I used to be on another Forum
One of that forums members worked at the Main Offices up in Auburn Hills Michigan

He shared everything he knew & also what he researched with others on that forum.

He could track your vehicle from the day that it received a VIN#
He had about 3 ways of tracking a vehicle

He even told me what day my Ram was loaded on the train & when it was going to show up at my dealership,
I was there when the dealership opened & my Ram had been dropped off 2 hours before i got there

He was tracking so many vehicles that it was taking up most of his free time & that may have been the reason that he stopped, or maybe his bosses found out what he was doing & had him stop

I remember a lot about what he told us & bookmarked key things like train routes & places where they unload vehicles

Does anybody know if they put into D1 even if they are missing say something that needs a chip & then hold the semi-completed truck until they get the electronics? I see a lot that going on but no idea if they are dealer stock only or a mix. Friend of a friend ordered one a while back, he wondered if that was his issue now.

GTyankee, that’s some really detailed information. That’s awesome. Thanks for that. So with what your saying, it’s gonna be on a Railroad until it at least gets into Tennessee. I live about 5 hours from Nashville. And where I bought/ordered my Ram is in Lexington. Which is around 3 Hours or so from Nashville. So maybe once it gets to that location off of the Rail, it will be put on a vehicle hauler and one stop from there to Lexington ky. Hoping anyway. Thanks again for the info.

That’s a god question, the way I have read the D1 status is that all parts are available and the truck actually has a scheduled date to be built. But I have also been told from a friend of mine that ordered an AT4 GMC, that his build truck was sitting in a storage facility 99% built awaiting that chip to complete the build. Again, that’s a GMC I realize that, but just letting you know what I know about the chip issues on the HD’s

I believe that some of the properties were named & some had images of the vehicles on hold. It was posted on this forum, i forget what the subject title was.

I ordered my truck on the morning of Monday April 26th, 2021. They told me approximately 8-10 weeks. I was notified this past week the truck has been built. And then as of Friday they said it’s in transit and should arrive at the dealership between 5/29-6/12. I was totally surprised but happy. I ordered the 2021 Ram 4x4 Mega Cab limited night edition with the gas engine and 6ft bed coming from Mexico.

Dang, that was fast. You ordered yours about a week after I ordered mine. And mine is still in D1 status. Hoping it changes to being assembled soon.

Brand new to this forum, so if I am not doing this correctly, please advise me. I ordered a 2021 Ram 3500 Srw Laramie from a dealer in Lexington ky on April 19th. It is currently in D status as of this past Saturday. Has anyone had any luck with the builds coming in on time within the 6-8 week range the dealers give you?

We ordered a 2021 1500 on February 24. It's built, arriving at dealer 5/24. The delay was the chip shortage related to features on the tow package we got. We were told by two dealers RAM is no longer accepting new builds for 1500s as of 5/6/2021. Not sure how any of this impacts 3500s.

Wish you the best of luck. Went to local dealer last Sat 5/8 to place factory order for a 2021 Ram 1500, and was told they are no longer taking new orders for 2021 model year trucks. Seems they are going to build out the existing pipeline of orders, and convert assembly lines over to 2022 models. Will re-visit the new purchase in a few months.

I ordered my 2021 Ram 2500 Laramie CC regular bed on February 8, 2021 and picked up on dealership May 6th. I was told it was in the rail yard on April 22nd, so 2 weeks to get delivered to dealer. I'm in southeast Michigan

My salesman texted me yesterday and told me it is still in D1 status, but has a estimated shipping date of 5/24/21. I am assuming it will be at least 2 weeks past that date before it lands at the dealership in Lexington KY maybe?
