To the OP asking all the questions : The only way you're gonna get an close to or totally all original Cuda that needs minmal work is to pay the big bucks. Or spend the rest of your life looking for a " Barn Find". Cause based on what yer saying it sounds like ya dont have a pile of cash to get what you'd like. So its either get a shell and start building / restoring or pay the big bucks for a complete numbers car or get the Revell model - glue it together and put it on the shelf.
I wasn't asking any questions....I was stating I wouldn't mind finding one and maybe purchase one next year...

There are plenty of cars online that are in decent shape and not overpriced for what they are. Never said it had to be original numbers matching. Not looking for a barn find or to get a shell of what was once a car. Not into that...not deluding myself into thinking a R/T numbers matching car is going to be cheap either.

Nice of you to assume that I don't have the resources or "a pile of cash"....No, I just don't like wasting money.

Any original 70 or 71 e body cars with desirable options such as shaker hoods, 4 speed etc. will be most likely priced at 60k and up unless they are a total restoration. Add a Trac package or Supertrac package and your going to approach 100k and up.
If your going to invest than look for an original car if your looking for an affordable car than make one. Find your Gran Coupe with a 340 or 383 and straight solid sheet metal and over time purchase after market parts and build one. It doesn't have to be built over night. But bare in mind that reproduction parts will be more affordable than orriginal equipment! If I had to do it I would look for a 340 car and build a TA or AAR as most parts are available. I don't know if a fast steering box is available after market and I'm sure an OEM part would be big bucks.
The '71 Hemicuda below now resides with a collector after I auctioned the car off back in '96. I purchased the car from the original owner in '75 and paid $2700 for it with 12k original miles. It's a 426 Hemi 4 speed car with a 4:10 (Supertrac Package). Everything on the car as shown in the pictures is original not added except for the rallye wheels which I put on the car. I saved the original wheels and tires which were orange 15x7 steel wheels painted body color Torreence Red (EV2) and taxicab wheel covers. Yes the car sold for a very high price, I new once I sold it I could never afford to buy it back!
Go for your dream, make it happen!

When my brother bought his only new car, a 1970 Duster 6-banger, it was $1,976 w/tax & tags.
Which at todays dollars would still be roughly $14,400.00.Tells you the cost to wage ratio, isn't anywhere near what it used to be. You used to have to talk fast to get a 3 year car loan,as most were 24 months when i was a kid in the 70's buying cars, now it's not uncommon to see 8 year financing for a new vehicle.

Here's my 'Cuda from back in 1978-1985. I found it in an apartment parking lot with a flat tire. It had New Mexico plates on it and was rust free. Interior was baked and cracked, as was the vinyl top. Bought it for $300. I found a '70 Gran Coupe Barracuda here in Minnesota with mint interior that had a rusty body. Drove the '70 Gran Coupe as my winter ****** while the 'Cuda's engine was being rebuilt and other work done to it. Got the 'Cuda running, had it repainted, new vinyl top installed, etc. The Gran Coupe interior had a velour headliner with center console, red accent stripes in the doors, hounds tooth cloth bucket seats, etc. Basically I made a real nice car from two cars.

It looked completely stock but I had made some engine modifications. It had the slap stik automatic transmission.

I sold it in 1985 for $3,250. I used the money as a down payment on a new '85 Laser Turbo XE.

If you could live with a leaning tower of power/slant 6,this little 72 Dart with an original 19,900 miles is well with-in your price range. It'd be a good candidate for a smallblock swap, then you'd have a Canuck version of a 72 Swinger,as you could still get 340 Swingers in Western Canada up till 73.

A couple outfits build a supercharger kit for the slant 6,and that'd give it a decent amount of power, and would be a hell'va conservation piece at the local carshows.Engine Masters put a Torq Storm blower on a 225 and made pretty decent power with it at 7lbs of boost,at 10lbs they pushed the head gasket out,but the little engine was almost making 383 Road Runner power before the gasket let go

70’s was Cuda. 60’s was Baracuda.
not quite.
Cuda was a different option than the Barracuda.
The Barracuda was always available.

All Barracuda VINs start with “BH” and all ‘Cuda VINs start with “BS.”
Obviously, “B” stands for “Barracuda” while “H” is for “High” and “S” is for “Special.”

Ah that’s right! The Cuda was the performance package and the Baracuda the standard package?

I remember the Cuda’s at the track, six packs, a Hemi every now and then. I had the big brother (size wise) 71 Challenge 440, 727, Dana 60 w/ 6.17’s and eventually 4.10’s for the street. The Cuda’s were fast and had a good looking front end. That’s the only thing I ever saw and it was it the mirror. ;)
