    Cam and supporting mod questions

So, i sent Howards cams a question regarding their base circle so i could determine which pushrods to use. I asked about this cam https://www.howardscams.com/hydraulic-roller-camshaft-2003-2010-chrysler-57l-61l-hemi-1600-5600-howards-cams-786875-12 What i got back was "Base circle radius on...

Evap leak traced to above the tank. Ideas and suggestions? 2008 5.7 BHorn

Lifting the bed is easier, and will allow you to start the truck and maybe look for a leak while the tank is installed. Pull the tail lights and push the wiring down through the holes in the bed. Under the bed the wires may be attached, so make sure they are free from the bed. The one step i...

    Cam and supporting mod questions

Youre right. Never been under the covers. Wasnt sure if they shared a shaft or what. Thats easy enough. I dont think im going to do the lifters. Truck is high mileage, but the heads have never been off so i want to leave them until the engine lets go. My biggest issue with CMR is that i cant...

    Cam and supporting mod questions

Does anybody know of a tuner that can write me a base tune with HP tuners? I tune my sleds and side by sides with Dynoport, but would be nice to see someone come out with hp tuners maps for our trucks. Why isnt there? Less money to be made? Any experience with Howards cams?

The more i think about it, how necessary is it to change the lifters? are they prone to failure?

    Cam and supporting mod questions

Reasonably certain im going to order this https://www.compcams.com/zex-purple-racing-shirt-mk112-303-11.html as well as their valve spring compressor. I will put air into each cylinder to keep the valves up. The valve seals don't leak so i will be leaving those alone. Truck is an 05 quad cab...

Old thread, but it doesn't matter where the dummy is on the case. As long as the u-joints are phased correctly you're golden

    2011 randomly stalls

That was next on my list, but I solved it. Yessir. I will replace it before the temp drops again. Her and dad bought it brand new in 11. Pops passed in 2015 at 53 years young, and i talked her into moving closer to me. Shes quite the homebody. Dont think the trucks gotten 15,000 on it the...

    2011 randomly stalls

Reading more there is no IAC. She says the radio and lights stay on, just the engine shuts off. Im going to replace the battery (its original) tonight, clean the throttle body, and check the transmission fluid. Going to try these things before doing the ignition switch.

    2011 randomly stalls

My mom has a 2011 1500 with a 5.7 in it. Truck has 40,000 miles on it, and recently started shutting off at stop lights. So far, it has always fired right back up. However just now she said it started and sputtered when she took off. Truck continued to run. Oil is good. No check engine codes...

    Valve spring questions

Has anybody ran these? Im a little confused on specs.... They claim "Seat Pressure 130 @ 1.811", Open Pressure 370 @ 1.211" So that's .600", but with a 1.65:1 rocker arm ratio?? Thats only ~.360 lift on the cam, with the rocker ratio, and the springs are almost in bind? Am i missing something...

    Help with fuel pump circuit!

You probably jumped 30-86. 30 should be your constant hot, and 86 (or 85) should be your ground on the coil circuit. Do you have a meter? 85 or 86 should be grounded, and the other should see +12 volts when the key is on. Im betting you melted a ground as the wire to terminal 30 should be...

    Engine Oil. 5w20 or 5w30

my 05 has 240,000 miles on it. Father in law bought it new in 05, and has ran Castrol 10-40 since new. So i'm going to continue with that. The non-mds engines are a lot less sensitive to viscosity.

2003 24v 5.9: Hard start when at operating temperature

Your CP3 is failing. Ensure the lift pump is supplying proper pressure to the injection pump as the leading cause of injection pump failure is low supply pressure. The cp3 will draw from the tank but its hard on it. The fact you could cool the pump and it started is surely the pump on its last leg.
