I installed a kenwood 418 dd head unit a year or two ago with navigation in my 07 dodge ram, one of my best mods yet! Ended up buying the factory navigation bezel off ebay for I think about $100 and worked perfectly. I'm sure u could probably modify and cut yours to fit, but I would recommend...
Ok, thanks. U had me worried for a second that I might cause big electrical problems. I will definitely keep a close eye on it and try to dig a little deeper into the grounds when I get time
Trust me, I have checked the wiring on the backup camera connections numerous times using my multi meter to check for 12v in reverse only, even re-wired the whole thing in case I had a loose connection somewhere. Made 100% positive I was tapping into the 12v positive wire at the reverse light in...
not too worried it then, the resistor is a high quality resistor that came from my hid kit from retro solutions. Probably not the appropriate sized resistor for the task, but i had it in the truck as a spare and works flawlessly so far. If my only worry is the resistor failing, no fear, at...
Ended up getting it fixed finally (fingers crossed). Tried a resistor I had from my hid kit, attached the resistor to the pos reverse wire at my tail light to the reverse trigger wire I had run at the tail light. So far so good, wire now reads 0v in all gears and brakes applied, and 12v in...
long story short, have been trying to get the backup cam on my kenwood ddx418/07 dodge ram to activate while shifting into reverse. Can view the cam anytime using the function button (have the cam power tied into accessory power). Strange thing is, ran a wire from head unit reverse wire to...
thanks for the diagram, but got it working anyway. Just ran a wire under the truck from the trailer harness (found a reverse wire there) up to the back of the head unit. Works great now and automatically switches the cam when in reverse. Will save this diagram though in case i have problems
well, picked up a relay at radio shack but no luck so far. Don't really have much experience with relays, anybody know exactly what wires i need to tie down to the pins 30, 85, 86, 87? Totally at a loss right now
never thought of that, to make sure i'm on the same page
if i go out and pick up a normally closed relay-hook the green wire to it that reads 12v in park and drive/0v in reverse, another wire from relay to battery (pos 12v), then does the purple/white reverse wire off the back of hu just tap...
Not sure if it would work or not, when the relay opens upon shifting into reverse and the trigger wire receives 0v in reverse but 12v in other gears, the hu wouldn't pick it up I don't think
trying to figure out my backup cam install on my 07 dodge ram again, have never been able to get it to kick over when shifting in reverse, but cam works fine if i hold the function button for a few.
Just like this chart shows...
