Hey all. My 97 2500 5.9 V8 with the 8,800 LB GVW needs drivers side ball joints. Rock Auto lists options for a 4,500 LB front axle weight rating and a 4,850 LB weight rating. However, one of the ball joints listed (supposedly) fits both axles.
After some research, because of my 8800 GVW, I...
With or without TC drain?

What if i dont know the history, it works fine, but the fluid smells burned and looks like crap?
I mean, dropping the pan and giving it a good clean/band adjustment and then changing the fluid again in 5-10K miles is what I would do. And then follow a regular, longer change interval after that...
The one I have is the stock pan with a hole drilled in it with some sort of drain plug contraption. Not sure who makes it, but it sure is handy.

Hey everybody. I might be trading my 2nd gen 2500 V8 for a 1993 W250 with a 12 Valve. It has 176K, automatic, 4x4, and so far that's all the info i've gotten from the guy. Obviously working on that.
Now I know my 2nd gens inside and out, I've been working on cars and trucks for a long time...
Hey everybody. This question kind of applies to any 46/47/48 RE/RH transmission.
When I got my truck it had 205K on the clock, probably its 2nd 46RE. So, I dropped the pan and changed the fluid and filter. Since I did it the first time, I try to do it at least once every 12K. My pan has an...
I had the ECU out of the 97, and now the brand new one meant for a 97 as well. All i swapped was hard parts, every single electronic part on the engine belongs to the 1997.

Hi all. I hate that i have to make this post but this pile of **** is still giving me problems.
97 ram 2500 5.9 v8. Let me give you all a quick rundown.
Truck ran kinda poorly and had 228k on it. Burned 3 quarts a week even with plenum fixed, so i picked up the 5.9 v8 out of a 1995 and put...
They do. Because every one ive traced so far has led to the place it says it does. As stated above, green w orange tracer is ASD relay

Yes. The 95 engine did not come with one, so I replaced it with the one of the 97, the one that was originally in the truck. I also used the flexplate off the 97 as well.

Hi all.
My 228K Mile Ram 2500's 5.9 V8 was getting old and tired, and i dont have time or money to pick up something newer, so I bought a cheap and lower milage 5.9 V8 out of a 95 and went through it with all new gaskets/seals/etc and verified that it was healthier than the old engine. It...

Found my problem regarding the distributor being 180 off.
I got the timing mark lined up on Cyl 1 TDC Compression stroke, and the rotor was pointed 180 degrees off from the cyl 1 mark with the dist in the stock position (meaning cyl 1 mark around 7:30), And then it hit me.
I just pulled the...
I ended up doing just that, and found that that large mark is indeed cyl 1 TDC. Now hear this out everybody, heres the next strange problem im encountering.
When I replaced the Tchain and sprockets on this engine, I found that the cam was off by 180 degrees. Rather than have the crank...
