Unusual temperature question
I'm going to explore that, because it's really the only mechanical link in the chain, but her's what I'm having trouble grasping is even if it's slow to open, or let's say it doesn't open at all, what would be the root cause of the coolant temp going from ambient temp to 190 in 2 miles now...- mjmcg

I'm going to trying burping the system, the bottle is ok, 3/4 and holds steady. Air seems the likely culprit. Nobody else seems to have any thoughts.- mjmcg

Again, my temps aren't high... It's that it's suddenly getting up to Tstat opening temp much quicker than it ever did. Which yes I admit doesn't seem like much of issue all things considered, but it's a sign something is up and I want to nip it in the bud before somthing wets the cradle.- mjmcg

Unusual temperature question
Group; I have an unusual question about temps. Unusual in that my truck not running hot or leaking. Two years ago I installed an all aluminum rad and 190 Tstat. I drive 20 miles to / from work mainly on interstate routes so my running stats are very consistent. 186-190 on coolant. 180 on oil...- mjmcg

Sudden oil pressure (reading) drop
Just did an El cheapo (not El Chapo) oil and filter change for diagnostics... At speed pressure back to 51, warm idle back to 30. I have always changed the oil in June with full synthetic and a royal purple filter. I had under 8k on that oil/filter. WTF? Piece of crap. I had my suspicions, you...- mjmcg

The only other gauge I have available at the moment is the mechanical sweep dial in the cluster but there are no numbers on it just the hash marks... But if memory serves me I think that still reads the same but I can't say for certain. It holds just above the mid point but I don't know what the...- mjmcg

I already posted this question as a result to an older thread but I don't think it got positioned for anyone to even see, so I'm using as a stand alone post. I've had my 2011 1500 5.7 for about 4 years. Got it with 32K mi on it now at just under 80K. I religiously monitor all my gauges...- mjmcg

Oil pressure
I've had my 2011 1500 5.7 for about 4 years. Got it with 32K mi on it now at just under 80K. I religiously monitor all my gauges constantly to the point of obsession. Oil pressure at full temp & highway speed (55-70mph) is always 50+/- 1 or 2. this week I've noticed it's only at 40 or below... -

You all do realize this figure is measured at the crank, out of the truck ,before any parasitic loses. At the wheel it is about 20% less. Well yes, of course, crank hp not bhp. I wish it was the bhp lol, then it'd be making will over 500 closer to 550. My bikes figures are 160hp at the crank...- mjmcg

Good info. Yeah everything running top notch. She's not a roach. In fact I have two new front fenders and a new rear bumper waiting to go on because they got some rust going on and nothing else does. I've driven some rust buckets in my day but this ain't one of em. I just never stopped to add...- mjmcg

This one is liable to get some mixed reactions, but I'm just seeing who's got what for opinions and why... unless someone has done it and checked, then you'd know for sure. But anyways, I have a 2011 1500 sport 5.7/ 5spd auto that got a set of shorty headers due to replacing the good ol' warped...- mjmcg
