Oil Filters

I've been looking on the synthetic oil thread and didn't see much on oil filters. RP is hard to find for a 2015 3.6 engine. Which other extended life filter would be recommended? Thanks

Look at the thread about filters and see what burla says, he is the resident rp expert.I use a purolator on my v6. I didn't see allot of choices on that filter at the parts store that I go to.

The 3.6 is a cartridge filter, no? Those are typically found with fewer manufacturers. I would go with Mopar or Napa or Wix.

Yes it is a cartridge filter. One of the easiest no mess filter to change.

Yeah there is not much aftermarket support for the pentastar filters yet. I would go mopar (made by hengst) or napa/wix gold.

Mastercraft makes a very good oil filter for the 5.7 Hemi. I see them at my local Walmart here.

After a quick search and finding nothing much out there for filters... I would say this is your best advice till the after market catches up.

Yeah it really sucks for you guys, I am pretty sure I could not find one Synthetic media filter for your engine. Whoever finds 100% synthetic media filter for the 3.6 please let the forum know. Bottom line you need to be on shorter OCI's or plan on changing the filter and topping off 1/2 way through you oil change. No paper filter will last as long as any synthetic oil. So you may opt for the combo filters, like Fram Extra guard which they do have for the 3.6, or other like Mobil 1 perhaps. Personally I am not a fan of combo filters or blended oils, but bottom line if they don't make the top tier filter for your truck these combo's are worth a look.

Extra Guard is part cellulose part spun glass is rated for 5k miles.

Fram Ultra 100% spun glass is rated for 15k mile, I don't think they have it yet for the 3.6.

I think I would trade it in for a hemi so you can get a rp filter. I don't see that v6 making it with out the rp filter. Lmao!

The canister filters will likely benefit from any synthetic filter media filter brand, just say'n. Since there is no housing, it is likely most spun glass media will be similar.

Just found out the filters for the 3.6 are intellectual property of Chrysler. Until those restrictions expire there will be virtually no options for you.
