E-10 and E-15 are one thing. E-85 is mostly corrosive alcohol. It entrains water (literally sucks moister out of the air until it achieves saturation), and can flash to vapor, causing vapor lock under pressure in high ambient/op temps.
Yes, the pros run ethanol, but a stock, or even modified stock engine is not purpose built for ethanol.
BTUs are awful as well.
So you'll burning twice as much fuel for less mileage.
But if its just ragging down the road, and you can afford the tear down and rebuilds, go for it......
If the 5.7L were going to predictably achieve its full estimated service life on E-85, don't you think FCA would have claimed it for greenie weenie points with Uncle Sugar?
To my knowledge only the 4.7L is certified to run on E-85.
Interesting, thanks for your input, it will take a lot of money to make a hemi 1500 fast at the drags lol, ill prolly stick with just bolt ons, cams, i may still try e85, i dont mind changing out fuel lines, on just bolt ons, im sure stock fuel system will hold, getting a special tune and run e85 for the gains may be nice. later on down the road, i ll see what the options are for e85.
