I drove on a 450 mile round trip today. Took a pic of my trip computer at the halfway point, and it showed over 32 mpg. When, I got back, I forgot to take a screenshot of my trip computer, but it showed slightly under 31 mpg.

On the way there I went from an elevation of 1300 feet and my destination was 400 feet. Of course I climbed that back on the way home. I drove no slower than 55 mph, but stayed between 3-5 mph under the speed limit to see what I could get mileage was since I wasn't in a hurry.

I have a RCSB 3.6, 8 speed, 3.55, 2017.

yeah I thought, it's gotta be a 3.6. But that's ok. My 3.4 litre tacoma with less weight got just better than half that gas mileage. that's awesome!

Yeah, I grew up in Slidell and would drive to New Orleans everyday. The only hills there were on bridges, LOL.

In my 5.7 when I set the cruise at 60mph, I get 24-26mpg. I could see getting near 30mpg when going 55mph...

And thats on flat ground. In Louisiana, the biggest hills around here are the levees holding the water back.

My 5.7 gets optimal around 65 70.

I never got better than 23mpg. Got wildpeak H/t. Can't get above 21mpg.

I don't believe I've ever tried 55mph.
I had a trooper follow me all the way in to work last week and I never got below 59.
AMEN to that. I get behind someone driving the speed limit I want to get around them as fast as possible. More power to you OP if you have the patience but I sure as hell do not.

Here's my 11 yesterday as it turned 119k, I was traveling about 70 mph and as you can see the avg in the Evic is slightly below 20 with over 3/4 of the tank used. This is a CC 4x4 with 3.55s and a six speed with redline 5W30, SRT filter, iridium plugs and crapyear SRAs.

So you calculated better mpg than the display? The gap between display and readout gets larger the higher the mpg with my truck. If I ever get on a road where traffic allows me to drive 55 without my being a problem I will try to duplicate your numbers as they stellar.

I have the patience, and don't want to waste the money if I got a ticket.

I am going to try and beat my one time best of 24.6 MPG . Instead of my normal 75 mph on a trip I will try 65 mph and 60 mph to see if there is a sweet spot and just to see if that makes a different

55 - 60mph seems to be the sweet spot as far as wind drag goes. I know pulling my jeep on a 16ft trailer, if I even think of going above 60mph my mpg starts to drop drastically.

I drove about 1100 miles round trip. Pulled an empty trailer 75 mph there, and a loaded trailer (6500# +/-) 60 mph back. No mountains, just rolling hills so terrain was not a factor. Got better MPG loaded at 60 than empty at 75.
That alone has slowed me down and my MPG's have gone up noticeably.

Oh, and I too have the 3.6 w/3.55 and it did great at near max rating.

had a guy tell me, one time, that in a certain spot. I can get off the throttle and a coal train will coast for almost 60 miles.
it burn practically no fuel and only added a few more minutes to my trip.

I looked at him, astonished, and asked why the hell I would want to do that?

If you drive 55 here in Texas, even in the right hand lane, I'm afraid the rear end damage to your truck would be substantial. God bless TEXAS---------LOL
Jay
That’s True. Better not get on the freeways in Houston or DFW doing 55. You will surely cause allot of road rage. Hell cruising from Dallas to HOUSTON my average speed is normally around 80-85 and vehicles blow by me, the speed limit is 75 mph, cops will probably stop you for rolling 55. Lol
