Anyone know what changed in 2018 regarding the delete and tuner products? Seems like the cost doubled to buy the necessary products for delete.

What if one just wants a little more engine growl? Isn't the "muffler" in with all of the emissions garb?

Yeah, there is no traditional muffler. The DPF and SCR (emissions stuff) act as mufflers. Short of deleting all of it there is nothing you can do to change the sound.

If you don't want to delete, do any of the tuners do any good? One of the first engine mods I would like to do is the Banks Monster Ram Air System. Everybody that has purchased one seems to like it very well. Gets 4.9 stars out of 63 reviews so far. Most of them are claiming a little boost in power & 1-3mpg better.

Sure, you can do tuning with all emissions intact and working (see calibrated power). Still get decent gains and better response (and shifting if you have a 68rfe)

As far as those other mods, snake oil unless you are looking to push major HP. The stock system is capable of handling a fair amount of HP increase before you "need" more air flow etc.
I'm sure no one that has spent ~$1k on some fancy parts is going to say they didn't help. I say show me the dyno chart and prove it...
1-3 mpg gain is absolutely laughable and don't believe that for 1 second, no way no how.

Whatever you do don’t go full straight pipe lol. Had mine on for a week to make sure tuning and everything was good before muffler went on and it was ******* annoying. I’m genuinely surprised people keep them like that. It sounds cool the first few times but gets difficult to have conversations in the cab with the windows slightly down.

I ended up going with a 53” muffler on eBay. Not the best but it worked. It’s extremely quiet and almost comparable to the stock system except when I tow or have the windows down. You have to be up against a wall or something to notice the exhaust sounds deeper and hear the turbo. Donaldson makes a great big muffler that is straight through and works well. Just get a straight pipe and have a shop weld that big guy in.
