Hey. Got an issue with my dodge ram 1500 2016 mod.
Parked my car yesterday. And today i got a service on air suspension warning. My air compressor wont start no matter what. Checked fuses but seems okey. Not sure about relays. But the compressor and air system did just work fine yesterday.
Suddenly it doesnt work anymore. My front is facing the ground while the back is high up from the ground.
Need help! Please

Go to the Search in the upper right corner and search for: (Air suspension) and read all of the topics there are on the subject.

Had the exact same thing happen this past January. Turned out to be a bad compressor junction block.
Replaced under my Mopar MVP service plan-no further issues.
You can actually drive the truck that way but go easy-the front end will be almost rigid.

Hello fellows, wanted to add what i have learned hoping that it might help someone.
Knew I had a leak but lived with the leaning and giving it time to air up, until one day the screen lit up light a X-mas tree. The truck went into limp home mode, riding on the bump stops. " Immediate Air Suspension service neded" " Service Trailer breaks" "Service break system" Traction control disabled " to name a few.

Had code U0415 in the trailer break module, and the suspension module gave me:
U0415 C15DA C15A8 C15A7 C155E C159F C15D9 C15A1 C1562 C1562

Knew I was up for new air bags and new compressor. As you might know, the comp is hard to get a hold of, and RMT in Florida would rebuild mine for $400 if i sent it in. Thought about it, and if they can do it so can I! Searches listed NO rebuild kit for the compressor for a Ram! More searches informed me that this comp sits in many other models like Tesla S, Grand Sherokee, Volvo XC90 and so forth. It's a industry go to unit made by Continental in Germany. (adding a picture of the manufacturer part number, that might help in your seraches)
So: ordered a kit for a 2014 Grand Sherokee and it fit perfect!

When you take the compressor apart, release the 4 bolts at the same time, there is some pressure inside and you need the end section to come of somewhat straight to not damage the large O-ring inside. When assembling the new cylinder and piston i reused the OEM gaskets. You have to be careful to make sure the connection rod goes on its shaft! Not hard, just take your time and you will save lots of $ and downtime.
Replaced the airbags and valve block with aftermarket from Amazon. Used OBD Link MX+ and ALFAOBD to clear all the codes and perform the tests. To get out of limp home mode, go into the active diagnostic in the suspension module and exit "In Plant Mode". Pulled a vacuum and refilled with Nitrogen by stopping by a Welding supply store and got AC gages and vacuum pump from AutoZone Rent a Tool Program. ( when you pull a vacuum the moisture in the tanks will boil off, that might help some in colder climates)

From what i figured from watching YouTube and reading posts, new air bags and new compressor would have cost me $4-5000 at the dealer, never mind that the compressor is backordered/ not available.
All in all I ended at $525

Hope this will help someone else.

I just got the immediate attention required message for air suspension but no codes. Will the vacuum tell me if there are leaks or do I need to pull the protective boots and spray with water/dish soap? How obvious is it the compressor is under performing? Thanks

Air Bags :

You will need to spray the boots - they are super easy to get to. Cut the Zip tie and lower the cover, spray it with soapy water: no special skills needed.

OEM airbags has a fold on them that makes a "belly" in the middle of the bellow - make sure that its folded over both above and below when reinstalling if you choose to remove the unit.
From my research i concluded that the lines from the valve block to the air bags are one piece with no splits or junctions - focus on the fittings and the bellows themselves. Its verry obvious when it leaks - The bubbles just grow, you will not miss it.

When working on the hardware remember: put the system in " Tire Jack Mode" on the dash screen BEFORE DISCONNECTING BATTERY. You will have to take the car out of tire jack mode on the dash when reconnecting battery or ALFAOBED will not respond like it should.

Codes:

You might have codes in different modules: look at all of the modules ( a code in the ABS module or the trailer break module will inpact the suspension module)
REMEMBER: look for ALL CODES not just CURRENT CODES .

REMEBER to take it for a test drive after you have cleared the codes and cycle the ignition for it to reset. ( I took it to the dealer to have it scanned, i was given a paper with 45 codes! Was able to clear them all, but it took a test drive with a few starts and stops for the codes to clear)

Compressor:
I had " compressor overheating" code and "Wait: Air suspension cooling down" on the driver screen. How did I conclude that it was underperforming? - put a wet rag on it, kept a hand on it and felt the heat. In ALFAOBD you can read the temperature as the unit works, and it was saying 80C on a freezing day. I did not see a temperature sensor, and it says, " calculated temperature", figured it's an algorithm that uses how many amps the unit is drawing and ambient temperature for its inputs.

I concluded:
At 100k and 6-8 months of irregular behavior, confirmed leak and a compressor that runs longer trying to keep up; Lets refurbish all the moving parts.
It was sooooo much easier then I thought, after i had wrapped my head around the system! Its all just industry standard stuff used by many different manufacturers.

I went for aftermarket parts, It so happens that the dealer had little to offer and Amazon delivered stuff in a few days,,,welcome to the land of the free ,,,

Love having my truck back, and it handles so well with a heavy trailer!

Thanks, at the dealership now for mystery coolant leak. Doing pressure test. Hopefully the part is covered under the warranty for the AEM recall I got talked into. They are being very careful about what they say in regards to the recall and the warranty but I have the paperwork. I’m pretty sure I will be getting a beater car and learning way more about diesel engines than I wanted to if it’s not covered.

Can you give more details on how you got out of limp home mode. Resetting the in planet doesn't seem to be working for me. I pulled a vacuum to 800 microns and charge to 175psi on nitrogen. Non of this system to be working

Start by checking all the connectors, fuses, etc.

Always start with the easy/common things.

The manual has a very good (the best) methodical approach to finding/fixing an air system, starting with the basics. You can find it free on this site with a search.
