Electrical Gremlin, wish someone could help.

Hey guys,
07 ram 1500 megacab. Wish someone could help me on this one.
4wd service light will come on. The truck still drives as it should for awhile. After cutting it off and on it will stay on for awhile then after shutting it down for the night or leaving it for a day or two it will go away.
Now when the light comes on the 4wd light will come still staying in 2wd. After the light goes out it ahifts itself into 4wd. Same deal. If you leave it for a day or 2 it will take itself out of 4wd.

Assume you have the knob instead of floor shifter for 4wd. Quite possible the switch is wonky. While I don't like to start throwing money at the problem, the switch is hard to diagnose, especially when it is intermittent. You could take it out and test it with a meter. A used one is $25 in eBay, a new one about 70. The problem could also be a bad relay and you could replace that as well. If that does not fix, then more investigation with contacts for the system, cleaning them up, is warranted. Could also be a problem with fuse box contact or ultimately the truck control module. Wish I could be more specific, but electronic gremlins are hard. Good luck.

My latest, just got in the truck. It was still in 4wd. But not lit up showing it was in 4wd. So i played with it switchingnit back and forth. Well when the 4wd lights up it goes back to 2wd. I changed it to 2wd and it went back to 4wd. WTF!!
