Well, traded my 22 2500 for a 26 2500 with a 6.4. Was tired of the DEF and that dam regenerating exhaust. This thing gets 11mpg. WTF??

That sounds about right. There one guy on here that had his average mileage shown in his avatar for several years, and it was around 12.7mpg. These HD trucks are north of 8k pounds empty, so they are a pig to push around.

It has only 350 miles on it. And yes, just around town so far. And I know it was going to be worse than my diesel. I used to get 24mpg on the hwy with the 22. Hell, my old 98 5.9 does way better than this thing. I really wanted one of those Cummins gas engines coming out...

Those are for medium duty trucks, highly doubt you'll ever see one in a light duty truck unless it's a custom swap.

My HVAC guy drives a gas 2500, he was complaining that with just his tools in the truck he was averaging 8 mpg. I felt bad for the guy til I got his bill and realized, he's gonna be a ok.

Yep, I went diesel to gas (once)..... then right back to diesel.
It might get a little better, (like 13mpg) but that's pretty average for most. Just look on fuelly for real world mpg results, don't believe all the high mpg claims you see here and there.

When I was looking to replace my 06 cummins that was rusting away and had 400k miles, I wanted to get away from the diesel tax. I got tired of $2000 turbos, injection pumps, $600 injectors, etc. I test drove a 2016 2500 with a 6.4 and saw it getting 9 mpg at part throttle cruise and I said 'nope!' I ended up in a 2020 1500 with the 5.7 and it gets about 20. I've seen 22.5 on the highway before.

I came to the realization that I just don't need a 2500 when I only tow a few times a year and its usually less than 7500 lbs.

I'd be happy just to get to 15, I don't think I'll have this truck too long...

I had a '96 Ram dually with cummins and 5 speed. Not towing/loaded it got in the low 30s mpg. Got a '23 cummins SRW 3500 and was dismayed to only get low 20's on the highway. So I got rid of it and am in a 1500 5.7 classic getting 18-20 around home. Had I known how bad the trucks would become I'd have kept the '96.

Back in 1999 I ordered a 3/4 Ton 4x4 Dodge Ram extended cab short bed 355 gears with factory overload springs and powered by their 8.0 V 10 gas engine. I ordered it loaded with all options available in 1999 it was Black with tan leather interior. It was a great looking Truck that I pulled my 32 foot fifth wheel with and unloaded I got 10 mpg and pulling the fifth wheel I got 6 mpg. That thing would carry the mail and as my wife said it would pass everything on the highway but a gas station! I loved that Truck and I still think about now and then!

I think it's a tough decision to go from diesel back to gas. I don't see myself ever going back. I have a 2010 RAM 2500HD (6.7L Cummins), and a 2014 BMW 328d (Diesel), and a diesel boat. My nickname is Diesel !

Pros and cons to both. Long term maintenance cheaper on the gasser, plus gas is a lot cheaper than diesel so you can get lower mpg and still even out. Let it break in a bit and your mileage should go up some. Best I can get in my PW though is probably 18 mpg on the highway with a tailwind, 13 to 14 is normal average.
