2021 HHOO Cummins/Aisin trans downshift funkyness

I have the Aisin as well and notice that the 2-1 downshift takes longer than the others. You can feel the engine rev a bit to accomodate the change in torque converter RPM. It "slumps" down into first. Usually, the whole process takes about half a second. I don't mind in the least, though. It is...

    Snapping from underneath?

Hey everyone, i've got a 2021 Ram 3500 with an Aisin. I have noticed something concerning about it, but not sure if it is normal operation or not. Here is what happens: When I am getting ready to park and at low speeds, Ill turn to angle myself for backing in to a spot. I let the pickup come to...

    2021 HD Ram recall

Here is an update for all of you who are affected by recall Y08 (Grid Heater Relay). Parts are available and a remedy has been sent to dealerships as of April 16th, 2021. My pickup had been sitting on the dealer lot for an extended amount of time waiting on this recall. They performed the recall...

    2020 Ram 2500 CP 4 Failure

I am so thankful that I was able to get a 2021 with a CP3 instead of a 2019 or 2020 with the CP4. Just had my pickup replaced through arbitration and I was "encouraged" to choose a 2020 over ordering a 2021.

    2021 4500&5500 FCA hold ?

Man this sucks. I entered into arbitration with FCA in August of 2020. NCDS decided in my favor and forced FCA to replace my pickup. Due to a comparable not being available on dealer lots, they allowed me to order a new 2021. I placed my order on November 2nd, 2020. My new pickup was delivered...

    CP4

I can tell you all for sure that the 2021 high pressure fuel pumps are SIGNIFICANTLY different than the CP4 or CP4.2. I believe Ram went back to using the CP3. I have attached two photos, one is a 2020 in a 2500, the other is a 2021 in a 3500. Both are standard output Cummins. I found an article...

2021 Ram 3500 Megacab DRW Night Edition

Placed my order on November 2nd. I left them alone (didn't want to call and call). Called to see what state it was in the middle of December. VIN had been assigned and it was in D1 status. Called two weeks later and it was in KZ status. Progress! It has been in KZ status for the last month. I am...

The Infamous New Bosch CP4.2 Fuel Pump

A few articles were posted last night that are claiming all 2021 Cummins Rams are now using a pump that looks very similar to the ole tried-and-true CP3. Fingers crossed as my 2021 3500 has reached KZ status!

2021 Cummins - New Fuel Pump?

Saw a couple articles and heard a few rumors that the Cummins engine for 2021 in the HD pickups will have a new high pressure fuel pump. Does anyone have any additional info? The articles stated that the "new" HPFP looks pretty close to the old tried-and-true CP3. My order on a 2021 3500 has...

Is there a clear "best" aftermarket gooseneck hitch?

I ended up getting the Mopar OEM gooseneck prep kit. I prefer the puck style to the B&W turnover. Nothing wrong with B&W, but I find that the ball gets easily rusted/crusted in its sleeve. It’s also a dirty job reaching in the wheel well to pull the release lever. One other major benefit of...

    Measuring my tongue weight?

I bought a tongue weight scale. It works for bumper pull and gooseneck trailers. Makes it nice to be able to dial in exactly what tongue weight you want.

    Trailer disconnected

This happened to me as well. It turned out to be a problem with the ground pin in the 7 way in my bed. If the connector is inserted and pushed upwards, I never get the notification. Ultimately, the ground was not making contact in the 7 way, so it found ground through the mechanical connection...

Lets see what you are towing.

Typically tow this. 32’ gooseneck enclosed. I haul my nice cars to shows around Montana. If I’m not towing that, it’s a flatbed trailer.

    Brake Pads Metallic vs Ceramic

I just replaced mine with carbon metallic pads. Stunningly quiet on the road and they are better at shedding heat into the rotor and surrounding hardware. Supposedly they are the best you can get. I believe OEM uses ceramic, which are quiet pads, but they do not have as great of stopping power...

Which Air Filter do you use?

I deal with a very finicky dealer. To not jeopardize anything warranty-wise, I use only OEM. After the warranty expires, I'll end up using what is already recommended.

Noise from the rear differential video attached.

I know for a fact that every one of the pickups I compared mine to has the AAM 11.5 rear end with TracLoc. Here is an update. @RamCares, you might be interested to read this update regarding my continual poor experience at your dealership: So today was the day that the dealership was going...

2017 2500, grinding going into reverse?

So today was the day that the dealership was going to tear into my rear end and diagnose. Turned out to be a giant time waste. I checked the pickup in around 7:30 am, and the service writer gathered some info and drove the truck around the building towards the service shop. I figured that they...

2017 2500, grinding going into reverse?

Honestly, your clunking sounds more like a loose chain in the transfer case. You can see the U joints not stutter at all when torque is applied and removed.

Noise from the rear differential video attached.

I would be completely fine with that, but every other 2016 and newer HD with the same powertrain that I have personally interacted with do not make any noises. They are completely silent. This also includes a 2012 with a 68RFE, 4WD, and same AAM 11.5" diff.

I just checked and it appears that I was incorrect. I apologize for the misinformation regarding the EGR service. I would still worry about the soot prematurely wearing the cylinder walls. In addition, fuel injected during the exhaust stroke during a regen has been observed washing down the...

2017 2500, grinding going into reverse?

That's true. Whenever I shifted into 4WD, the grinding noise disappeared. When I shifted back into 2WD, it came back.

You are clearly biased against having deleted diesels on the road. There is no "could clog" about it. They will clog, and the vehicle will be out of warranty when it does. DEF has nothing to do with the EGR. At all. I am quoting you because you are defending the emissions equipment on the...
