    Theft is on the rise

After watching this video, I bought a Faraday box for home and some Faraday pouches for when I travel away from home. I also pull the fuel pump relay when I have to park in a parking lot or parking garage when on the road (I figure it's less likely that they have a spare relay than a spare...

    Rotary Shifter

A friend is looking at a '22 Tradesman 3500 Dually. It has a column shifter. I anticipate that it has some kind of mechanical linkage to an electronic controller. Or why wouldn't they just put the rotary knob in the dash? The 4WD controls are in the dash where the knob is usually located. :driver:

    Rotary Shifter

I got an incredible deal on the G/T ($5,000 off MSRP and $3,250 in rebates; along with 0% financing for 48 months). I also got a great deal on the '21 Off-Road so it doesn't feel like I lost much money on the transaction. As for the ride comfort, I'm going to research the forum for more info...

    Rotary Shifter

I disliked the rotary shifter so much I traded in my '21 Bighorn "Off-Road" for a '22 G/T just to get the console shifter. That's not the whole story but it was a major function in the new purchase calculus. It turns out we loved the Off-Road (which I bought as a "farm" truck) so much that...

Thinking of buying a new truck...

I stand corrected. When I bought my 2020 RAM there was lots of fanfare about the ride of the new DT model and I assumed incorrectly that was due to the shift to coil springs in the rear. I'll learn to keep my trap shut about models of which I do not own or have factual experience. Sorry. But...

"What DON'T you like about your 5th Gen RAM"?

Feel free to post a link to a locking gas cap for the new "capless" fuel filler. But thanks for the wise-crack about being lazy. Did you read the thread title? It's not a "pull towards you" type switch. You would know this if you owned a 5th Gen RAM with a sliding rear window. Thanks for...

"What DON'T you like about your 5th Gen RAM"?

Just 4 things: 1. The idiotic rotary shifter 2. The mess that can't be avoided when changing the oil 3. The lack of any available option to "lock" the gas cap or fuel door 4. The switch for the rear sliding window is illogical! For more than 50 years, we've been pushing or pulling up on window...

Thinking of buying a new truck...

There is a HUGE mechanical difference!! The 5th Gen RAM has a coil spring rear suspension compared to a leaf-spring suspension on the 4th Gen. The ride is AMAZING! It rides like an Imperial on the highway (and climbs like a Rubicon when off-road)! I've got a 4x4 with the Off-Road package and...

Ram Build webpage less expensive than dealer build numbers

I anticipate that the dealer has internet access, ask them to sit you in front of a computer and build the truck on the Ramtruck.com website in front of them. Then ask them to reconcile the difference with their factory sales representative. The big manufacturers are trying to move to a more web...

    2022 Rebel GT On Order

On Dec 23rd the wife and I went to look at a 2022 Laramie 4x4 G/T at a dealer about 70 miles from our home. It was optioned almost exactly as I would have ordered it. I've got a 2021 1500 4x4 Off-Road that I love but I hate the rotary shifter (the G/T comes with a console shifter). Additionally...

Converting 2013 1500 Big Horn Interior to 2016 Rebel Interior

Please post updates. I've been wondering about the possibility of changing out the console in my 2021 RAM 1500 for one with an actual shifter (I've come to really dislike that poorly designed and positioned "rotary" transmission selector on the dash of the RAM).

    Tire question

Tires in sizes for trucks come in at least two forms: Light Truck (LT) and Passenger (P). You will see this as the first letter in the tire size description. Most times, the LT tire is not going to offer the most comfortable ride as it is rated for truck use and built a bit more sturdy to carry...

Engine oil for proper break-in: conventional or synthetic?

If anyone knows of a thread that is already discussing this topic, I would appreciate a nudge in its direction. Otherwise, I did some searching and didn't find the information that I was looking for. I realize that there are lots of threads on which engine oil to use, but none seems to discuss...

    Mobil 1? Why not?

My rule of thumb is to change the oil when it's dirty. Oil starts out translucent (you can see through it). When it gets enough dirt and contaminants in it such that you can't see through it anymore, it's dirty and should be changed. No matter what type, kind, brand, conventional or synthetic...

    Extended Warranty

I asked the selling dealer to quote me a price on a Mopar extended warranty when I bought my new truck: he said $4,000. I have bought extended warranties for our past few new vehicles and have not used them once; and we try to keep our new vehicles for at least 10 years (In ten years my wife's...
