I know you didn't ask for my opinion, but for that price you're not far off from a MOPAR remanufactured unit with a two year warranty. Plus no hassle of having remove the screen and replace on the stereo. Just my $0.02
I would recommend buying a remanufactured unit from your dealer (should run about $780 plus tax). Comes with two year warranty and is supposed to be "good as new." I don't think the potential savings by going eBay and the like are worth the time, hassle, and likely unsatisfactory results...
If I'm honest, and at the risk of public ridicule, this screen thing is what got me looking.... Which is crazy and I can't legitimately justify it all. $800 for a new screen/stereo vs several thousands for a new-to-me truck. But the bells and whistles of the Laramie vs the Bighorn, the 24k...
My screen was delivered two days ago for my return. I received an email this morning saying my refund should post on my CC in 2 or 3 business days. All things considered, a pretty smooth return and grateful that I ordered through eBay.
Regarding the MOPAR remanufactured unit... it was...
Was it an ebay purchase? If so, return should go smoothly. But downside is where to turn next? I have a feeling these remanufactured units from MOPAR is the only "safe option" since they have the 2 year warranty.
Replacement remanufactured unit now on backorder until mid-August. Delamination has gotten worse over the past week. Hopefully the screen lasts and the delivery date can be honored.
Does anyone know if a stereo replacement requires a "flash" from the dealership? I'm curious if I'll be able to simply plug in the remanufactured unit and it will work or if I'll have to schedule an appt with the dealership to flash it.
I just got done removing the new screen and replacing it with the old one. It's now packaged and ready for return and hopefully a quick refund.
The good news is that the MOPAR replacement is on the way so hopefully it will arrive in the next week or two.
In the mean time, I had a talk with...
I'll return it for a refund.
One thing I need to clarify with the dealership is if the $780 remanufactured item is just the screen or the entire screen/stereo unit. If the latter, that price is pretty darn good considering just the screen cost me $500 on ebay. And the replacement is even...
Response I got from the seller:
"Thank you for contacting us. The spots you are seeing are caused by the sealant that we applied on the edges, over time the chemicals will separate and the spots will go away for the most part. These screens are extremely sensitive and really the only way to...
Looks like I spoke too soon. I noticed these "halos" when driving around tonight. See the lower right corner and the left side of the screen. I imagine they are permanent. It's pretty disappointing. I suppose now I'll have to contact the eBay seller and see what options I have. Have you guys...
Hey everyone. I wanted to send an update. I received the eBay replacement screen today and was able to swap them out utilizing an extremely helpful video on YouTube reference earlier in this thread (I believe). I also used this opportunity to replace the thermal pads as suggested by...
I called three dealers and they all quoted $780 plus tax for a remanufactured one. Two year warranty. I have one on the way but no telling how long it will take. If the eBay buy pans out then I'll just have them send it back but at least there's a backup option if the eBay item doesn't work.
Thanks for the referral and steering me away from the other seller. I may try this route. I talked to the dealership again and it will be just shy of $800 out of the door for a remanufactured unit.
But I am still toying with the idea of just going custom now and getting a Kenwood or Pioneer...
For some reason when I click the link you sent me it just takes me to ebay - not a specific listing. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.
However, I did find this listing:

That looks like more than I want to get into....
I just spoke to the local Ram dealer. He said a remanufactured display/radio unit will run $750-ish and a new unit will run $1,400.00. I do the replacement myself. There is a two year warranty on both items even if I do the repair myself. I...
I plan to call some dealerships today to see if 1) they will just sell me the unit and let me do the repair or 2) get a quote on a repair without a diagnostic visit. Unlikely for both I'm guessing - especially since I can't find the radio unit compatible with my truck on moparpartsinc.com or...
That's good to know. Thanks for sharing. Most of what I'm seeing online though are Chinese sellers/origins. Even on ebay. Any suggestions on where to look state side?
Thanks for the confirmation.
I'll check out the damaged screens. It may be my only option. But I'd prefer to get something new that would (hopefully) be better built/engineered to avoid the problem in the future. It will be a major pain to have to go through this every 2 or 3 years.
I hate to be that guy that joins a forum and then asks for help... But I'm that guy. Unfortunately my 2018 1500 Bighorn (46k. miles) started showing signs of delamination today. After getting educated by wonderful forums like this, I'm prepared and capable of doing the repair myself. I called...
