Dead engine replacement through warrany, should I accept remanufacterd replacement?

What is the difference between pulling your old engine and repairing it (rebuilding), and taking someone else's blown engine, rebuilding it, and putting it back in your vehicle? Likely your old engine will get rebuilt. The biggest difference is just time. As far as new crate vs reman...

    Big Engine (5.7, 5.9, 6.4, 6.7, 8.0, etc) vs Small Engine (3.0, 3.6)... Towing?

My current trailer is a tough trailer, but it has a lot of bed in front of the axles. About 8 foot in front of the fenders, and 4 feet behind the fenders. Kind of an odd setup. Likely designed to be pulled by a small truck. I end up putting the load fairly centered over the trailer axle. If...

    BODY SWAP DIFFICULTY

You have your wheel arches to repair. That could be a sign of a nightmare of additional problems, or it may be just an easy repair (and touching up the paint). Rusty Bolts? I don't know about that era, but the newer trucks are supposed to be pretty easy to pull the cab as one of the methods...

    Big Engine (5.7, 5.9, 6.4, 6.7, 8.0, etc) vs Small Engine (3.0, 3.6)... Towing?

Ok, I imagine this has been well discussed in the past. But... Anyway, somewhat by accident, I ended up with a 2013 Ram 1500 with 3.6L, 8 speed auto, that actually runs. And I do a fair amount of towing. Varies from light up to around 8000 lbs. It has a Turbo, and is rated around 300 HP...

Eco diesel to Hemi swap, looking for info.

Any progress? Does the old pickup run? "Move"? Post some photos of the old pickup. It is nice to start with a complete setup, not just an engine, and missing the electronics. My experience so far is that a right side impact, there isn't much critical over there. On the other hand, the...

Can you remove the cv axles?

That was what I was thinking. Is the OP absolutely sure they can't get the parts in time? The amount of work to remove the axles, and the amount of work to replace the axles may well be about the same. Even pay for overnight shipping so you don't have to do double the work.

Heads up on diesel oil supply

This seems to be very similar to spam type announcements I've seen in the past. Nowhere in the entire article does it mention oil viscosity. 15W-40? Why are other viscocities not impacted? There are at least a dozen oil manufactures in the USA. Are they all impacted? What is the...

    Truck won't start

How annoying. Batteries are made up of 6 cells of about 2.1V each. They really don't like to be discharged to below about 10v, in which case you can easily kill a cell, and the battery will be dead. Make sure your voltmeter can read in tenths, with 12.6V being "normal", and slightly higher...

What in 2023 is going to be interesting? Going to need a new truck.

With the gas prices headed to a Galaxy Far Far Away... I'd seriously consider a full electric pickup for 2013 or 2014. There are several that will be hitting the market in the next year or two. Ford F150 Lightning Electric GM Silverado Electric Hummer Electric Tesla Cybertruck Pickup Rivian...

First Issue with my 2019 RAM 1500 - RF Hub Died!

Ok, following up on my post. 2013 RAM. Apparently some mice got into the wiring causing the pickup to throw the RF Hub error. The shop didn't show me their repair, but it appears as if this is under the carpet between the driver's seat and the door frame. It wasn't blowing fuses, but...

    Winch mount

If a hitch and the rear suspension attaches to the frame a winch could too, but it would take some Jerry Rigging. Interesting point that if you're pickup is buried in the mud, perhaps a winch under it would not be desirable (although, better than nothing). I fabbed up a similar receiver...

Just need to rant a little.

Junkyard woes? I find that 8 foot takeoff beds are relatively common on Craigslist, at least for newer generation pickups. https://eugene.craigslist.org/pts/d/springfield-2003-dodge-parts/7501477425.html https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/d/2004-dodge-long-bed/7493932189.html...

New, undelivered 2500 has keys stolen on train

I had an older Ford key made at a locksmith a while ago. They attached the key programmer to the pickup. Then said there was an option to either forget all the old keys, and reprogram from scratch, or simply add a key. It would have been easier if I had two keys, but I only had one very worn...

Did an oil change on the Ram, only got hurt twice

My 2013, 3.6L has the filter in the middle, top of engine. Unique bare filter without a can. It actually works pretty well. Now, if I changed to vacuum, I could do the entire change without crawling under the pickup.

    Before I purchase this camper

If you are planning on just ferrying the larger trailer around every once in a while, then you're probably fine. On the other hand, if you are planning a few cross country road trips, and a new campground every night, then you're probably best with the smaller trailer, or a bigger pickup. I...

First Issue with my 2019 RAM 1500 - RF Hub Died!

Is this till happening? 2013 RAM Driving one day. Dead in a rest area 2000 miles from home the next. Pull tab above e-brake worked to release wheels. First non-Dodge shop clueless. Called about 5 dealers that could see me between one week out and one month out. Found one dealer that would...
