    Track bar identification

thats what i am guessing, but the mount being as it is, doesn't seem like it would have been the route easiest done for homemade. unless was professionally custom home-made maybe. thanks for the response!

    Engine/trans problem

transmission internals should be the same (both are going to be 46RE), count splines on the input / output shafts to be sure, there may be other internal hard-parts internally that are stronger in the 4wd, (planetary gear sets may be 3 pinion on the 2wd and 4 pinion on the 4wd, though that is...

    5.9 magnum help

any update on if that was the issue? also there is a way to adjust the tps back to factory specs. https://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=53750 pretty sure they should come pre calibrated but just my $0.2

    96' Headers on a 95'?

sorry not much help on the header issue, but was the code for an upstream or a downstream sensor? one way to reset codes is to disconnect the battery and turn the key to the on position so it drains all residual electricity from the system, let that sit for about 10 minutes then reconnect. they...

    Track bar identification

could this be a previous owners own handy work to upgrade the track bar? or can anyone identify if this was a trackbar kit for these trucks? there are horizontal welds down the tube to the nut assembly to thread the joint on it. extends maybe an inch down the outside of the tube.

    Track bar identification

lol thanks had no idea :P cant say im too excited with how it was welded right to the existing track bar mount as far as strength, but could be strong i guess, no idea who the welder was or what the skill set was when it was welded.

    Track bar identification

Hey guys so I have a 97 ram 1500, got it second hand, and have been going through it and attempting to determine what I want to replace on it. Initially I had been looking at DOR track bar replacement, then went and looked under the truck, and found an aftermarket one under it already. One of...

    Alternator question

I would personally go for the higher one, these engines aren't starved for power so a little more draw from the engine won't be a bad thing, and if those items are possibilities in the future and they do draw to much from the small one you would be getting a higher rated alternator anyway at...

    Bought a 99 V10

transmission should be a 47RE, adjusting the forward band can be done without dropping the pan its on the side, the rearward band is inside the pan, i highly recommend installing a drain plug when the pan is down. these transmissions are a bit particular to service when you want longevity of...

    Alternator question

as long as they have the same plugs should be able to use either or, if you have many electronics (sound system/light bar) id go for the higher amp one either way, but if it had the oe lower amp one and you want to keep exact original get the lower one.

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

Good to know, it looks good, but does not sound like the route I want to go, not looking to build a power beast, more or less just want to be able to have enough power if and when the need arises. If you get a chance to make a build thread for that motor you are building would definitely love to...

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

I dont mind grinding and Fabbing etc. What I have been reading is the stock TB necks down below the butterflies from 50mm to 47/48mm. And fastman/hipotec bore it out all the way through. I know where a late 2nd gen TB is I could score for cheap so I'm tempted to try this mod (not the boring...

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

Luckily my truck has a 2 1/2" body lift so I have a bit more room in the engine bay if i do decide to go for the r don't normally like body lifts but for working on trucks they are quite nice (especially for transmission work). Wow, that is not a bad price at all for those headers, 1 3/4" to 3"...

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

Thanks for the info on those headers, will look into those, I tend to like fel-pro gaskets for everything so I'd probably be getting those anyway. Are the stock TBs threaded for a stud to mount the round filter? Was thinking of trying that TB mod of grinding the air horns off. Have you seen that...

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

Ok thanks for the tip on the intake, I plan on getting long tube headers, am learning towards the pacesetters from summit, seems to be a good price. And am not finding many others. And a cold air intake. Was thinking the rockers as it seems no matter what build 1.7s are the way to go. Thanks again.

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

also not exactly cheap (400$ on summitracing) was looking at Harland Sharp roller rockers with 1.7 ratios/ pedestal mounts. they look nice, anyone have any experience with them?

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

The kits I've seen anyway have a box that sits where the OEM tube goes in and seals to the fender around that hole is why I ask.

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

The K&N, if it is sealed properly it should be cold air right? Seems to me on the stock it gets really thin and restrictive. Am tempted to try making a filter box. Or modding one, dont know if I'd get a k&N I'd probably get a cheaper tube setup and get an AFE or K&N filter. I like the surface...

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

That was my initial take on it, but looking at the performance throttle bodies, they were flat as similar to the ones shown on the DIY, the only down side that was determined in their findings was the vacuum sound. It makes sense to me anyway that grinding the flanges smooth would allow better...

    DIY/Cheaper Performance mods

So i have been perusing around looking for semi simple mods, and wanted to know about experiences with them. initially i was looking at doing the "Keggar Mod" but it seems that its not really worth it to shorten the runners, i have seen lots of back and forth about it, at the moment my truck is...

    96 "sport" package...

Dapepper9, I could definitely see an info post being very beneficial, especially for new to headlight people like me, also a build/how to would be great if/when you do them again, have found very few of the actual install of these for these trucks and most on old threads that pictures are...

    96 "sport" package...

sport model headlights differ from not sport as they have 2 bulbs, separate high/low bulbs, while non-sport has a single 9004 bulb. (i believe they had started doing this in 99?-02). i am debating on going for the sport model and getting a HID projector retro. dapepper9, what retro kit(s) did...

    46RE Transmission Issue/questions/rebuild?

been awhile since i posted on here at this point the truck runs and drives seemingly normally. I wanted to thank everyone again for the help/tips/advice through the rebuild. also to those looking at maybe rebuilding their transmission themselves, it was really quite easy and straight forward...
