I don't know if the wiring harness is the same on the 4.7L but I have read where people have had the wires run through and ground out on the 5.7L HEMI engines. There is a harness that runs down the front passenger side of the engine. Then it turns back and under the engine. It then runs between...
Have the starter bench tested. Even though it was replaced it's possible you got a bum starter. Also sometimes starters will work fine on a bench test but will fail in a vehicle.
What I would also recommend is check your grounds, and check the wiring harness that runs down the front of your...
Sooooooooo let's dive into this. A few months ago I encountered this on my truck but with a 5.7L HEMI instead. On my truck Dodge ran the wiring harness down the front passenger side of the engine. It passes between the oil filter and the oil pan then curves under the engine to the knock sensor...
I used a short extension. I fed the socket into the tube and held the last 1/2 inch of the socket out of the tube and snapped the short extension into the socket.
That's how I did those. They were actually easier than I thought they would be.
Today I replaced all 16 plugs in the 5.7. I'm impressed it ran after what i saw.
The New Vs Old Side-by-Side
The old by itself
And the top half
I fully expected to have some broken spark plugs.
I've had this truck for about 2 months. My sister and her husband had it for a year before hand...
I adjusted the sunroof yesterday so hopefully it seals better now. I also cleared out the front left drain tube so it shouldn't be leaking water on my hand anymore while I'm driving.
I'm a day late on this but I fixed the Tach by reflowing the solder on those two chips, shimmed the circuit board, and figured out why the HVAC system is acting up.
Just a heads up here comes a small book.
I pulled the controls out and messed with them. Everything worked flawlessly. So I took...
I got the girl registered and the title switched over. Then got in the truck and proceeded to flick the climate controls until the AC kicked on. I know it's a lose connection somewhere because the lights by the 2 knobs don't seem to work until I give it a good flick.
Will probably year it apart...
I just did a quick search to confirm what i suspected. White smoke could mean coolant (unlikely in your case), or injector related issues. (Probably this one.) But I'm no diesel mechanic.
Well, I haven't done it yet but it will be soon. Probably today after work. I'll be putting the old girl up for sale. I've been looking for something newer lately and I was offered to take over payments on my sister's 06 Mega Cab with 127k miles on it. That was finalized today and it'll be in my...
Friday I replaced both the front and rear O2 sensors. Turns out the rear O2 sensor was just unplugged. That explains the high voltage code I got. I didn't fully plug it back in when I messed with it. However I know it was messed up because when it unplugged itself my truck started to use 1st...
I finally went to the junk yard and yanked a rollover valve and the grommet for the truck. I had a freeze plug in there while I drove it trying to find the correct grommet and rollover valve. I was reminded that I shoved a freeze plug in there when I put gas in it this morning and heard gas...
Holy crap! I have no clue why I said exhaust. I need to fix that. Lol!
But yeah, that was my point. It won't suck enough oil through the intake to cause the issue he's having. I think he needs to just bite the bullet and look for leaks in the plenum.
The only way I could see this being a valve cover leak is if it's sucking air in via leaky valve covers into the intake if you have the stock air filter box. The driver side breather goes to the intake housing. My engine always seems to suck oil from there and into the air filter... But your...
Yep, and in this case 400k miles. If it was 200k miles I'd strongly consider it, but at 400k.... Just remember not every Cummins is a million miles engine.
The rear O2 sensor went out today. I cranked the truck up and got an error saying the voltage was too high. I checked torque pro to see that bottom graph's value pegged at 1v constantly. The upside is my truck drives like it's new again. Lol
Well today I threw the code reader back on the truck to check something. From what I've read it's normal for these O2 sensors to fluctuate from .2v to 1v.
Then I noticed this:
What wasn't captured on here is that the O2 sensors were swinging way over 1v at idle and when they do swing both...
I take it you mean this screen?
https://i.imgur.com/JkBZNqY.jpg
After looking at my truck's valve body diagram I realized it didn't have the screen that Rockauto claims it does.
So now it's back to the drawing board. :/
It could be a bad sensor. I've heard that Autex makes trash for our...
So today I learned that our trucks have a Governor Screen in the valve body..... I wish I knew this last spring when I replaced the Transducer and the Sensor. The old ones were clogged with metal shavings.... So I'm willing to bet the Governor Screen is too. Now, my question is does anyone...
