    Transmission upgrades on 5.7 Hemi's w/ 65RFE trans?

Your truck's transmission has done very well for it's age/miles. I think the only upgrade I would do at this point is money: put some money aside every week/month for a rebuild, and wait till she fails. That could be 25k miles, or ...maybe 100k more miles, who knows? Because by now ...and when...

    Which tire?

It's a process of matching the tire and the wheel (rim) to achieve a better balance (use fewer weights). The Hunter balance machine does an initial balance spin and attempts to determine imblalance of the wheel balance, AND tire balance. The machine will provide a balance score. But the balance...

    Newbie struggling with truck choice

As it gets closer to the end of the month, sales people and dealers want to move as much iron as they can. Each salesperson has a monthly tally ...and most likely a minimum quota. And there are spiffs and competitions to reach certain sales milestones (30 cars per month might get a higher...

Ha ha... I've known FL residents who ended up buying vehicles from, northeast snowbirds and got a surprise!

    Newbie struggling with truck choice

Southern is always the way to go. If you live somewhere near CHI...it's a cheap plane ride down to Dallas where a lot of clean trucks await you. So you could search there too. Or Orlando area...Atlanta, etc. I think 2018 is when they updated the EPS unit, wasn't it? How much service, if any, do...

    STEERING SHAFT

Yep. A lot of modern vehicles have about 6 or 7 actual wear points on the intermediate steering shaft/s between the steering wheel and the actual steering unit. Sometimes it's a cheap way to tighten up a truck's steering feel. Good point!

Looking for advice/opinion on buying a truck

Mojo88....I was an 'old GM Guy too'. I completely understand what you meant by wanting to go with a Ram. Couple questions & points to ponder in your search: 1) Do you do some or any of your own maintenance? If so, 2018 and above have an OBDII diagnostic system that most scanners are kind of...

Sticky brakes when coming to a stop

Hmmmm...would that be a sign of an ABS controller (valves) going flaky? Some guys on this forum have more experience with that than me...so I'll let them give you their thoughts....

Anyone had this issue before? how to fix it?

Underhood relay (if there is one)? Controller? You're saying it doesn't work on any speed? If you know a guy with a 'good' scan tool, I think a guy ought to be able to read HVAC codes. Maybe a parts store like Autozone and/or OReilly Auto can navigate to the HVAC controller section in the...

    Need help with diagnosing issue

Hmmm. Hard to say. Does the 12V outlet still work? Try swapping the A/C relay for another one in your fuse box. Maybe the new relay you bought is flaky. Make sure all fuses are pushed 'down' too. It wouldn't hurt to run to a parts store (Autozon/OReilly, etc) and get a free battery load test...

    Which tire?

I agree. You can't go wrong with Michelin's on anything! I've had a few sets over the yrs (have some on a car now), which, like you say, run about true as can be. For those interested, Michelin does offer a slightly more aggressive "look" LT and Trail tires. But like you say, if it's a pavement...

Good info. That might have been what lead to your tk's ball joint wear/damage too (??).

    Which tire?

The problem with buying the online Coopers is, Walmart installation and balancing around here is terrible, and staffed by jokers with older, uncalibrated balancers (according to the guys there) and limited to no experience. And a lot of turnover. Based on a lot of prior experience, I don't trust...

    Which tire?

Me too. Stock size. Road Force Balanced & Rim mathed. 98% hwy driving. They run down the road like butta! Well actually better than that. Butter as far as I know is better on toast than would probably make a tire compound :happy107: They're a 115T tire..so not something to use for 5th wheel...

    Transmission service

Oh it'll still be there... long after all of us I'm pretty sure. LOL. I heard someone say the other day, "Maybe its time to take a media break and focus on what good in your life today." Sounded good. I need that every once in a while too, these days.

    EPS Issues

Hmmm...well in that case go right to #4. It's probably not the battery, it's probably a flaky EPS unit. Supposedly, according to some forum members, the new Chrysler EPS units (while difficult to get), seem to be revised and more reliable. But NOT cheap. Do some searches of EPS and power...

    EPS Issues

Have you done a battery LOAD test? HERE. Or charge your battery and take to a parts store to get tested. That's where I would start. May not be the problem, but you almost have to rule that out. These trucks are known to act wonky in weird head-scratching ways when the batteries start going bad...

    Limp Mode after jump

A totally dead battery can take a whole day to charge depending on what charge setting you have your charger set to. Best not to charge it over 10A. Driving it around is going to take a long time to fully charge up. Once you get it charged, probably wouldn't hurt to swing by a place that sells...

Vertical play on both front wheels

Grizzstang pretty much listed it. There are a number of videos on Y/T that explain how to test Ball Joints and Bearing/Hub assemblies to zero in on the problem. Pretty much what you did with a little more look-see on various components. The lower ball joint should have no more than .5mm (1/32")...
