Hello Everyone,

I recently had a fog light burn out, and having it replaced by a mechanic was exceptionally expensive, $150 for it to be replaced. I decided that was absurd, and purchased some from AutoZone. According to their tool, this fits my 09 RAM 1500 5.7L Hemi. I already applied light bulb grease to it, I don't think I'll be able to return it. Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this situation?

I was told my dodge is something like a "half year" it uses parts from the previous generation, and the new generation. I'm not a mechanic, I have no idea how truthful that is. I'm a little irked that I spent $50 and they don't work. Depending on responses, I might stop at AutoZone after work and see if they've got any ideas.

The yellow ring is the new one, and the bottom one is the old one. To me, 2 of the keys are off in size or direction.I looked at the other bulb, thinking they might be "Left/Right" ones, but that made little sense to me, why that would matter for light bulbs, but nope, same keying.

Edit: I might take the actual headlight mount out, and see if I can get it in that way, depending on how wet/difficult it is. It's currently raining where I am... :(

Do not touch the glass with your fingers , the oils in skin will adhere and cause it to have a very short life.

Wipe it with rubbing alcohol to clean , then use gloves.

Take an original bulb to match with at the parts store.

Well, I've already touched the bulb accidentally. Would it be safe to clean it with 99% isopropyl alcohol wipe? I use these to clean CPUs and heatsinks. It removes all the oils. It's not a big deal if I can't return it, it'll be a lesson learned.

But moving forward, I'll use Nitrile gloves. I was trying to replace it before I went to work, but I wasn't able too.

Bulbs returned, the guy helping me, clueless to what a half year is. The other individual there knew exactly what was going on, and told him to accept the returns. My lights apparently are 2010, and not 2008 or 2009s. I returned my headlight bulbs as well, I'll wait till I'm on vacation the week of Christmas to replace those.

Didn't matter if I wiped them off or not, the clerk grabbed it by the bulb...
