So as some of you may know my biggest problem with my 2013 Sport CC 5.7 Hemi 8 spd is the crappy mpg I'm getting compared to a lot of others. I know its a truck and I didn't buy it to be economical on fuel but when I'm averaging 13.5 or less mpg while others are well over 15mpg with similar driving conditions, it's frustrating.

I've noticed a decent amount of carbon build up on my exhaust tips as well as carbon all over my back bumper and tailgate. With only 3k miles I am curious if my truck might be running too rich causing the bad mpg and quick carbon buildup.

Thoughts??

Forgot the picture. Yes I do clean the tips often but I have not polished them yet.

well with only having 3k miles it might get better mpg when its broken in but as far as getting black on your tailgate not too sure about that.. my 2012 ran rich as hell but that was because of it having headers and no tuning so not sure whats goiing on with yours

I was getting so-so mileage in mine until it hit around 3k. I average 19-20 mpg, granted it is mostly highway miles, but 13 mpg does not sound right. Especially if you have the 8 speed, you should be getting better mileage than me...

Just give it until 5k... worse case scenerio... unplugg the battery..let it sit...then plug it back in. But really..tell us the truth... its a Hemi so its OK to say if you have a heavy foot...hahaha

Yes its fun to get on the Hemi but I have tried to baby it with the same results. I will be putting on the intake and exhaust soon and will disconnect the battery. Hopefully it will help. I have also heard a good synthetic like redline may help which I will be doing in a few weeks. I will keep everyone posted.

What can the dealer do anyway if it is running rich?

If its running rich then they need to adjust something because it is not supposed to be dumping extra fuel like that but that's if it really is running rich

That tip looks normal to me!

I found on my G8 that it ran even richer with the CAI and exhaust on it. Once tuned, the black went away. This is why I'm not running a CAI on my truck. I don't want to mess around with tuning it.
