6.7L,660ftLbs=G56 Manual 6 speed
2015 2500 St Tradesman 4x4 Quad Cab, Camper shell, 6 speed manual G56 stick, K&N air filter. Bought used Omaha, drove to Los Angeles 24.1 mpg. Up & down California 6 times in 5 weeks. 10,000 miles (27k to 37k). 8800lbs stock chrome 18" steel rims, 275-70-18 Firestone tires. Avg city 17-21mpg. Freeway 22-28mpg. Is something wrong? I been driving stick since 1970s.
Drove 2hrs + 6hrs + 2hts off road in 1st & 2nd 4H in California’s Kern mountains 3000-8500 ft. Elevation & got 15-16mpg? Something was wrong per my landlord neighbors! Great ride in Air Con shopping land & mountain cabins. Changed all filters and all fluids except power steering and radiator and Brake fluids and clutch fluid. Kern County, Bakersfield Dealer said 1% of all trucks get a G56 6 speed manual. He said this trans is the same as the Dodge Viper! Fleet mgr said that the 24mpg is normal & that the automatic transmission sucks 5mpg to run correctly.

viper has a Tremec TR-6060 (newer version of T56), not a G56. So that guy is a ding bat.

They are basically polar opposites.

I have a G56 and 3:42 ( highway gears ).15-16 is average around town. 16-20 highway, hand calculated actual mileage. No way you are getting over 24 on a stock truck... If you are I wouldn't change a thing. And like SilverSurfer15 stated Viper runs a very different trans. Yours is much heavier duty and built totally different.

A couple observations...

57-61mph

Range 353-525.

Should I insinuate that you seeing said observations and commenting on them means that you are trying to bash a diesel and turn this into a diesel versus gas debate just like mtofell did in that other thread?

If I wore tin foil hats and thought everything was a conspiracy out to get me then I would, but I don't I don't see anything wrong with someone commenting on numbers posted in a thread or think they are doing so as some malicious attack. Can you and mtofell please return the favor.

If you keep hitting the reset button while driving it will show crazy high numbers. Just screwing around with it I've seen average econ maxed out in my '11 on a nice downhill :happy107:

Hand calculated or it never happened. My dad's '08 6.7 with G56 gets 12 or so towing moderately........

It's an observation. Any automobile will get much better mileage at 57-61 mph than at typical highway speeds. The other observation was the range was still showing quite a lot, so the test sample might be smaller or just over a particular stretch of highway with tailwind or downhill.

Not a single word in my post about diesel or gas.

Those are big MPG numbers. Congrats to the OP. I'd like to see what he gets at 70-75.

But thank you South Texan for reading between the lines to make assumptions, replying with infantile comments, and just plain being yourself. Stay classy!

This is why the internet needs a sarcasm font. My post was sarcasm in reference to you and mtofell thinking that just because I made an observant comment (just like you did here) about the oil temp numbers people were posting in the oil temps thread. All I said was "Dang, that 6.4L runs hot" and somehow got labelled as having some ulterior motive of trying to bash the 6.4L and trying to turn it into diesel versus gas debate.

Since you didn't understand my sarcasm then let me explain. You essentially did the same thing I did in the oil temp thread by commenting on the observed numbers. I was pointing out the irony that even though you essentially did the same thing I did, I wasn't going to jump in with some wild conspiracy theory claiming your posts have some sort of subliminal meaning. All I asked was to return the favor and to not jump to some wild tin foil hat wearing conclusion thinking that all my post are to start a 6.4L bashing diesel versus gas debate. I don't do that to you, but if you want to keep on doing it to me then I will point out the hypocrisy with the occasional sarcasm like I did above.

No need to tell myself or anyone else anything. It is plain to see which is why theviking even commented on it. But yeah, I do get a little warm and fuzzy when I get the chance to point out hypocrisy. Hell, I even get a rise out of it sometimes.

Here is my sole, in edited post from that thread...

Those temps seem about normal for the 6.4l.

From there, you proceed to react to another poster's comment there and reference me, then come here and attack me for a simple post.

Wow, you are starting act like Drittal. Take off the tin foil hat because this was not some conspiracy comment to turn anything into a diesel versus gas thing...

It's too bad you are so prone to trollish behavior because when you are not trolling you can have some informative and enlightening posts.

So you are going to totally dismiss the fact that you "liked" mtofell's post(which means you agree with what he said) accusing me of trying to bash the 6.4L and start a gas versus diesel debate when it wasn't the case? Or the multiple times you have accused me of such things yourself like in this thread ( One of those days )where you yet again accused me of ill intent when there was none. I was just commenting in the observed numbers that didn't look right there just like you did in this thread, but did I call you a troll here? This is why I sarcastically said what I said in this thread because you keep trying to say I am trolling or subliminally bashing the 6.4L when I am not, and it is only in your head because you automatically view everything I say negatively.

Attitude is 100% perception. How you perceive things will determine your attitude towards them. It is up to you whether that perception is negative or positive. Case in point is how another 6.4L owner in that oil temp thread did not perceive what I said as being negative yet you and mtofell did. Just how you see all my comments as trolling when they aren't yet you make the same kind of comments like you did in this thread, but you don't see me calling you a troll or automatically taking everything you say as malice like you do with me. This is why I sarcastically called out in this thread.

It is too bad that you are so paranoid in thinking everything thing I say is a 6.4L bashing conspiracy or trolling, you would probably be able to contribute with some informative and enlightening posts if you didn't.

ahh south Texan... still at it.

From someone, who has made it obvious hes not a diesel fan boy, this is potentially possible. Slow highway speed (relatively speaking), no wind, no hills, no hurry, lots of coasting, and factoring in that the dash is probably off by about ~10%, its not that unrealistic. Hes not getting that kind of mileage all the time, I don't think he was trying to say he was. Just that driving easy and trying to get MPG, worked. He was probably closer to 25 real world hand cal, but still that's legit.

while "trying" to get good mpg I have gotten (hand cal):

12 Mustang GT, Vortech T-Trim, manual - 27mpg - normal - ~20
09 HD 6.0L on 37s with 4.88s - 14mpg - normal - ~12
07 Powerstroke on 38s - 13.5 - normal - 9? lol
02 Camaro, 408cu LQ4, 88mm Turbo, manual - 23mpg - ~16

driving 50-55 and never accelerating and coasting all the time helps ALOT. But unless you are never in a hurry and got all the time in the world and dodge all the traffic and have perfect driving conditions, its just not realistic.

I should point out that ALL Of these numbers are based on FL driving (no hills and at about 20ft for elevation lol) AND done on a 30 mile trip at midnight with zero traffic.
