Bought my Ram tradesman used last weekend. But after a fews days driving it on the interstate the truck died and instrumental panel lights flickered as well ad the transmission shift switch light on and off lost power then everything came back on and ran again it lasts only seconds but now has happened once a day. No engine light or codes but sometimes battery light comes on then shuts off, but I believe the battery is new. Pushed all fuses in checked the battery posts all good no engine codes. Any ideas? Anyone with the same issue? Thanks in advance.

Usually indicates a bad battery. Looking new means nothing, a little Windex can do that.
The date of mfg is somewhere on the battery, if it's 4 yrs old it may be on the way out.

I had a similar experience with a 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie around 90,000 miles on it in Jan. 2018. I had a new battery in it, fully charged. It initially turned off for just a second and then came back on, experienced this a couple times. About a week later, I was driving from North FLA back home to North GA and it shut down 5-6 times, and wouldn't restart for 15- 20 minutes. No battery problem, no problem with fuses. I pulled into a Dodge/RAM dealer south of Atlanta and they said they weren't able to read any codes when they checked. I ended up reading on one of the forums about some of the factory ECM/PCM's producing low voltage output to the engine electrical components that could cause this. Installing a new ECM/PCM addressed the situations noted in the trucks that were the source of the postings.

When I got back home, I took into the local dealership the next day and they also said they didn't find any stored codes and told me they wouldn't be checking anything else out on the engine without a code source to start with. As the truck already had required re-build at 65K, I ended up trading it.

Let us know what you find out.

Glad to hear it's only the battery. Was probably the factory battery in her still.

Did you purchase the truck from the dealer it's currently at?

Oil filter housing assembly oil leaks are all too common on the pentastar. To me, this assembly is the only shiddy thing about the pentastar. It's a $200-300 dealer part and probably a few hours (book time) of labor. Intake manifold has to come off. Good time to replace the spark plugs then too since the intake has to come off for 3 of those.

Thank y'all for the feedback it is currently at the dealer I bought it at no word yet if it us battery or possible pcm. I see the housing is plastic it's a shame they do not make an aluminum or some type of metal housing to replace it hopefully here something by tomorrow I'll let y'all know.
