What people tend to forget with travel trailers is it's not so much about the weight. It's the lack of aerodynamics that kills your MPGs.

A parachute is light, but pulling one around sure would kill the mpg

As a Pentastar owner, I’m subscribing to this thread.

FWIW, I used to own a 3800lb travel trailer and it towed fine and never had any heat related issues. I tow at 60mph and would get 10-11 mpg based on terrain. I chose to purchase a light trailer to leave some capacity for bringing a motorcycle along in the bed while towing the trailer.
