The main negative I see about the etorque system is parts availability if something fails. People are seeing long wait times for replacement parts. I've owned two 5th gens with the etorque system and neither one gave me any problems. But I only had either of them for about two years. It's just something that makes the engine more complex than it needs to be, so long term reliability would be another concern for me, as I've read about bearing failures in the starter/generator.
