Awhile ago watching TK garage and ctech- review it was said the e torque and VVT would be included on the new Hemi until further notice. Last night watched those same channels they went through the onscreen compUter ordering of a 2026 truck with THe Hemi. The website showed the Hemi VVT, MDS
and stop start! Anyone here knowledgeable about that and what will really be on the 1st batch of Hemi's built?

Crikey.

Who the hell wants e torque anymore? MDS doesn't really do anything - without it it would cost less. VVT, whatevs.
E-torque and MDS could go by the wayside, but you'd want to keep the VVT,as that's what advances and r e t a r d s the cam,and is why a Hemi makes good torque down low,and still pulls fairly hard up top.

This is from the Mark Dodge thread about ordering 2026 Rams. Only 1 Hemi option which has eTorque.

My Ram informant tells me MDS, VVT, and Start/Stop (eTorque) will be on all 5.7s through 2026 at least. The Start/Stop "feature" gets an automatic EPA credit (which is why just about every car/truck has it) regardless of effectiveness or customer acceptance.

I may have to keep my 2019 Limited 5.7 NO eTorque for the rest of my life. These options suck.
YUP, keeping my lowly optioned Biggyhorn till the tires fall off. Go to Walmart, buy a Case of Gorilla Glue, glue dem tires back on and motor on.

I won't consider new till they get rid of E Torque. Dropping MDS and fix VVT oiling help too. BUT also, the 25's have that new Atlantic Electrical architecture that is having problems., THAT is an issue too. Guess dis BOIRD too picky.

Just bought a 2025 I6 a few months back for my wife and although she likes it, I have concerns about the future reliability of this motor.
I WAS looking at the 2026 Ram for myself and getting into a Hemi however, I am in strong agreeance with many of the posts here. NO etorque and NO MDS! Ill be looking at other options for another new truck until these can be deleted out of ones build.

That low-end torque is like no other. I now have the twin turbo hurricane, and it definitely is faster than my old hemi but that Hemi really does have that grunt that you really cannot get from the inline 6.
I do have mix feelings about this whole v8/Hurricane motor. That’s my contention; pros and cons with both.

Every motor for tractors (either 18-wheeler or Industrial machinery) is either an inline 4 or inline 6. Most being 6 cylinder. If longevity is what you seek, keep the hurricane 6.

Yeah we are definitely going to keep the new one, just wanted to maybe add the Hemi to the mix as well. Time will tell on this new six cylinder!

The only current production truck I can think of that doesn't have any of the stop/start, cylinder deactivation, or turbo is the HD Fords with the 6.8 or 7.3L. There are no midsize or half ton trucks without at least one of them from any of the manufacturers currently in production.

Get a 2500 with the 6.4l and 4:10 gears.
The money you save on the purchase and repairs VS the 1500 will offset what you pay in lower bad MPG.
Also, the 2500 is more fun to drive. It is a beast to drive.

GM 6.6L V8. But the damn thing does have GDI (single injector, I believe).

Is there any real data on the e-torque as far as reliability or is it just a bunch of traditionalist poo-pooing it just because (I include myself by the way). Maybe it's okay and we just some real data and not just opinions (again, I include myself on the negative view of it).

I see no problem with the MDS and VVT. I've had many hemi engines (chargers) with both and with proper maintenance I believe both are reliable and as mentioned above, you got some good things from both.
