5.7 Intake manifold leaking oil, upgrade to 6.4?

So my factory intake manifold is leaking oil at the seem by the pcv (63,000 miles).

A new OE 5.7 manifold is not cheap when compared to doing the 6.4 swap.


Looking into the 6.4 swap I will need the following:

Would do the MMX kit with harness - I think I need to source and EGR plate now though (they no longer include them?)

New air intake - does the 6.4 S&B fit our truck? (I.E trade in the 5.7 on the 6.4 with S&B under the upgrade option)

Catch can no longer works (I am not drilling/tapping 6.4 set up) - I am ok with this

Tight clearance with AC lines and TB - slight bends and should be fine.

5.7 Engine cover no longer fits - just cosmetics

Need revised tune for 6.4 injectors - I think JG changes $100, not an issue.


Am I missing anything?


Everything I read says this is a solid upgrade and since my current manifold is leaking so why not?

You dont need the harness, Just extend the wires.
ERG block off plate is dealer item
Get the new Jeep 6.4 manifold its dirt cheap

Check the bolt torque on the manifold.The bolts holding the manifold on are famous for loosening off,and should be checked at least once a year.
The torque sequence and torque specs are in this thread.

This hasn't been talked about for awhile,but check your intake manifold bolts.They call for 108 in-lbs or roughly 9 ft-lbs of torque,and they should be checked at least yearly,as they do loosen up. I've been doing mine at least twice a year on all 3 of of my hemi equipped vehicles.They should be...

I have read the threads, don't recall seeing anything about the S&B 6.4 intake fitting the 1500 with the 6.4 manifold swap.

I'll buy the harness vs cutting and extending wires, it's worth the cost to me.

Bolts were loose, but my leak is the seam, there where it's wet from the looks of it after degreasing everything.

Leaks down the back of the head to the block/bell housing and down.

They are know to leak & push oil out under intake

Never mentioned the S&B 6.4 intake so unsure what you're referring to.

I just tried to save you money getting the Wagoneer intake manifold instead of the truck intake manifold.

So if you saw that thread, why are you asking the same questions that were already answered.... lol...
