50hd vs "American Thunder"

This is not a request for recommendations or opinions.

I am looking at the holley website and their 'specs' tab for the "american thunder direct fit" muffler says it is a 50hd muffler..... But it's $500-ish.

If I look up the 50Hd muffler separately, is is like $229-ish.

Does anybody know if there is an actual difference between these mufflers, or does Holley charge $300 for a 20" chunk of pipe that's already on the muffler + 3 clamps?

I saw the same thing on 44 series bare and the 44 series direct fit. Direct fit has the chunk of pipe and the hangers welded on where as the bare has no pipe or hangers.

You are correct in the premium charged for those extras. $250 -$300 extra for the direct fit seems a tad steep for what it is.

I'm also curious why the direct fit version is called "American Thunder" whereas the plain muffler is just called a 50hd
