Has anyone installed a Rambar part #82215959 on a 4th gen? Wondering if it would fit?

Well it is known that the 5th Gen Ram 2500s are just 4th Gen bodies with a facelift. And the 4th Gen bodies were pretty much identical for the whole range (1500, 2500, 3500). So if it fits on this truck, then it should fit on a 4th Gen 1500 easily.

So the Rambar DOES NOT fit the 4th gen. Although the opening of the bed (width) is the same exact size, the bed rail itself in considerably more narrow on the 5th gen. Unfortunately the side base of the Rambar is contoured to match the bedrail of the 5th gen, making it unusable on my truck. without cutting off the bottom plate and having a new one that's contoured to fit my truck, this wont work. I now own a Brand new Rambar in the box that I cant use..

Had the Rambar been out prior to me installing my head rack bar..... I would have given it a shot.

Don't get me wrong.... I love my Magnum Head Rack, and can't recommend it more than enough. It's solid and looks great. The Rambar would have been just "to do it" and it as well looks great :waytogo:

Does look that a BakFlip would be an option though.

Just my opinion, but it doesn't look like it would be overly difficult to flatten the curved plate to sit flush on the top of the bedrail. I'm assuming the rambar secures to the inside of the bedrail, so that outer surface is meant to just hug the profile. Might require some touchup paint afterward if you're not careful, but it looks doable. Of course, it is difficult to determinate the plate thickness used, but it looks to be around 1/8" or so. Just a thought, if you're inclined to make it fit.

Not quite, some fifth gens (HD models) are the same body as 4th gens from the cab back. So, if it fits a HD 5th Gen, it will fit a 1500 4th gen (from the cab back)...

Take out the Angle Grinder and cut off that outside lip, now you got a modified Rambar

It was easier to cut the plastic underneath as that's all the front needed. I may do the rear to match.

This is what I mean by sits a bit proud.

Looks good on the truck.

Personally I see 2 options:

1. As mentioned, just cut off the excess so that it sits flush,

2. Heat up the flange so that it will be easier to hammer out the angle, and the trim off the excess.

I would not leave any of it metal on metal, have something between as a barrier. :waytogo:

There is no metal on metal I just removed the edge of the plastic. From the back of the lip to the paint I have just about .010" with a feeler gage. .009 feels too loose and 010 feels a bit snug.

This all I cut off the plastic. The bend at the backside in the bed is solidly on the plastic and the bar can go down no more. I think a better way for me to solve the issue is to cut the lip on the backside, stitch a 1/8" spacers in to it this way it widenes the bracket sitting on the rail. But it's not going to solve the proud gap as the bracket and the bed rail are at two different angles. Meaning the bracket is flat and the bed rail has about a 10 degree slant. Unless I cut the tube I'm not correcting that.

This is the exact same RamBar as pictured on @czervika 's truck, but on a 6.4 bed.

I had no fitment issues. However that just goes to show the width difference of 5.7 vs 6.4.
