Hi Folks,

2020 1500 Laramie with front 2" leveling kit, 20" rims. I am getting new rims (stock going to winter tire use) for A/T tires. I am looking at Grabber A/Tx and Dueler Revo 3, maybe Toyo open country A/T 3. I also have the high mpg diff gearing.

Looking for your opinion if you have used any of these tires. I would like to keep mileage loss within 1-2 mpg; I like my cushy car ride; I don't want to have to turn up the radio to hear over road noise much.

I am hoping to fill up the wheel well with tire, so was considering 275/65R20 or maybe larger, but don't want any rub issues. I am not a big off-road guy, so please consider that. I have read whereas LT tires are running around 80 psi and other tires are much less psi. I know that will affect my ride quality. I do drive lots of highway miles. I wish there was a magic tire that wasn't LT but a larger diameter in 20" that will fit my truck.CB16A291-B50C-4EAC-81F1-BFE16AA27EC1.jpeg

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Similar question - just picked up my 20 Laramie Night Edition. It has 22” wheels and basically car tires. Will leave the wheels but want a more agressive AT tire. Little to no off-road use, i live in NY so will have snow and want to maintain the ride and no noise. 2” leveling kit going in this weekend.
It has 285/45/22s now - Nitto makes a 285/50 Terra Grappler G2 that I am looking at...any other suggestions?

As I assume you have the standard (5th gen) P275/55R20 Bridgestones...I would highly suggest the old standard tire size 4th gen body style 20" rims) of P275/60R20, to maintain the ride comfort of the Passenger tire and, MPG's...going to the much heavier LT tires is going to reduce your MPG's more than I believe you are looking for, and the LT tire will not give you the ride you are looking for.

I suggest a mild A/T tire that will give you the best of both worlds (smooth & quiet) I have the Cooper AT3 4S and I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of these tires.

I would go for the nitto terra grappler g2 in either 275/60 or 275/65, both come in xl load range and weigh high 40s. Light and no ride compensation!

Thanks for the info. I did some research and found my stock tires are 113T rating which equals a load rating of 2535 lbs. So, I looked at the Toyo chart and found that a LT275/65R20 E would have its air set at 49 or 50 to meet that sticker rating on the door jam.

I have ran my E tires at that psi or even 45 in the past for a softer ride on my F250. But this truck is much lighter. I wonder how the mpg would compare at that setting on that tire size compared to the stock tires I have now and am getting 19 mpg combo? Anyone running such a setup?

I put Cooper Discoverer at3 xlt in 275/65r20. I have about 50k on them and they still have a ton of tread left. I imagine since they are LT tires ill get well above the warranty mileage. They are quiet and have great traction.

nice. How is the ride compared to your stock ones? What pressure and mpg do you get?

Continental Terrain Contact A/T have been outstanding the first 3500 miles on my 4th gen. Incredibly quiet for AT.
I'm typically a Michelin guy with high expectations...very happy with these so far and consider them an equal.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I transitioned to the Pirelli Scorpion with the stock/original tire size [ 275/60 20 ] and have really liked it. However, it's still about a 33" tire and if you're looking to put more rubber in the wheel well, you'll need to go a little wider with proportionate percentage of height (if you want a little more width of course). You could opt for the size you mentioned [ 275/65 20 ] and that would NET you at about 34" of tire, or a 285/65 would give you about 34.5" height and width difference would only be about 1/2" so rubbing shouldn't be an issue. A 295/65 would give you about a 35" height and just under an inch more width. Also, you don't need to use an LT tire as they are normally more expensive, use higher tire pressure and based off of your usage would just not be warranted. But, that's just my opinion. You can manipulate your width/height to fit your needs, but I'd personally recommend - unless you really need it - to opt for something other than the LT option. . I'm switching to a 37x12.50 Nitto Ridge Grappler which is a Hybrid tire (and a 6" BDS Coil-Over kit). However, the tire is also available in smaller sizes as well and might be worth looking into. Again, just my opinion. Good luck, and post the before and after pics once you make your choice.

I would normally recommend the Terra Grapplers but after my most recent purchase of a set of Toyo A/T 3’s, I’ve gotta day these are definitely my new favorite tires. More aggressive look than the AT 2’s, extremely quiet, snow rated, no ugly white lettering, and very good prices if you can find them in stock.

Did put a level on the front? Did you lose any MPG?

Yes, and slightly. I have not had the computer re-calibrated for the bigger tires but it still does well in the highway. I have the 3.92 gears so its not like its gonna be that great anyways

Hi, so I went with
COOPER LT295/60R20 DISCOVERER AT3 XLT LR-E BSW
and am happy. There is no rub. They are quiet but have a nice looking tread. I also traded that white truck in for a blue one.
