Definitely interested in this. With my 8' bed, I'm sure my shaft is about as long as they come so I should see a nice difference. :naughty:

Two wheel drives come with aluminum shafts already 4x4's need steel for the strength.

Sorry, but lots of 2wds come with steel driveshafts, and aluminum driveshafts can be made just as strong and stronger than a steel driveshaft. An aluminum driveshaft is typically a larger diameter than a steel driveshaft because it needs a thicker wall to match the steel shaft under torsional loading, but it's just as strong and much lighter, comparably.

Negative, 2WD come with steel shafts like Charon stated. The 4WD comment makes absolutely no sense either.

I am not getting any email responses from these companies... Anyone know of a good source for these..

TylerB there was a place in Florida I believe that Greychevy listed as a source, but I can't find that info. Do you know who it is?

(I think their names was "Advanced..." something or other)

There should also be several places in SoCal that can do these for you. It's not rocket science, most driveline shops can fab them up; the good ones will balance them properly and that's where the magic happens. Luckily I have 3 in my city and 10 within 3 hours for me to choose from.

Yeah, but for a 4WD ie different tailshaft on transmission= different driveshaft length.

Unlike exhausts and intakes will this void your warranty?

They would have to prove the driveshaft caused whatever problem you are having. Since you are going lighter there shouldn't be a problem. If you were going heavier and it took out a bearing or something along those lines you might have problems. Going lighter though shouldn't be a problem.

Aftermarket aluminum driveshafts would be great, and a lot stronger than factory aluminum ones in my experience.

Here's GM's idea of an aluminum shaft in my Z28 I had before this truck. :superhack:

Yikes! That looks more like something that should be used in plumbing!

It looks like they took an aluminum bat and turned it into a driveshaft!
