Our salesman called and said the truck is built and should be here by mid march. I was thinking about trying to hit them up for some discoverer sst tires and negotiate that in the price. Has anyone had any luck with doing that? I don't have a whole lot of new truck buying experience. I figure the worst thing they can say is no and best case I get some tires for half price

my last 2 trucks were both 2 year old lease returns, however, the '03 f150 i negotiated a new set of bfg's after we agreed on the selling price.on my new ram i got the dealer to install a set of sidesteps for free but unfortunately they wouldn't swap the brand new goodyear duratracs. so yes,you can negotiate a deal.

you can negotiate just about anything you want to...

The best advice I can give is to make a list of what you want and divide that somehow into must-haves/nice-to-haves, along with what you think that's worth ($$$) to you in the negotiation. Remember that every time you upgrade something, the dealer isn't out the whole cost of the upgrade as they will sell the lower-optioned parts that are removed.

Also, never lose sight of the overall price you want to pay. There are a lot of dealers out there with a lot of salesmen/managers... don't be afraid to walk away from something and try again somewhere else.

I had the dealer swap out the tires for BFG's for me when I took delivery. It didn't save me a ton of money over an outright purchase, but at least I got rid of the passenger car looking tires it came with from the factory.
