[Stupid senior]

I'm new to the forum so bear with me. I have a 2017 ram 1500 Express with the 5.7 hemi. I wanted to change some of my lights to led so I bought the obd link mx and downloaded alpha obd. I changed out my taillights, 3rd brake light and all interior lights to led and everything works fine. I didn't get any messages and didn't use alpha obd. I don't understand this so I hope someone can tell me why I didn't need the obd link mx.

Do you have the small 3.5” instrument cluster, or the 7” premium cluster? The small cluster isn’t as sensitive to bulb out warnings, so if you have the small cluster, and were to install the premium cluster, you might get the errors.
As far as AlfaOBD, all those LED settings do is disable the PWM. They don’t actually do anything for the errors, but rather, take care of the flickering (that the naked eye doesn’t really pick up on) caused by the power being pulsed. There are plenty of LED bulbs out there that already have built in provisions for taking care of the bulb out messages, and there are bulbs that don’t take care of the errors even with the changes made with AlfaOBD.
